Nokia to Introduce New User Experience with MeeGo in 2011

Senior VP, Design & User Experience at Nokia, Marko Ahtisaari, spoke at the LeWeb conference today about the dominant patterns of interface and user experience in the smartphone industry. There’s the pattern used by iOS with just a screen full of apps and home button, and the pattern used by Symbian and Android. The introduction of Windows Phone 7 shows there’s demand for other patterns, and Nokia will introduce a new one with MeeGo in 2011. Video of the talk after the jump.

Four new photos of the unannounced Nokia X7 just showed up on the internet, and they give us a much better look at its shape than the previous leak. The four speakers, AT&T branding, 8 megapixel camera, and dual LED’s flash are clearly visible. Take a look before Nokia asks to take them down.

TwimGo, the best Twitter client for the Nokia N900, was just updated to version 2.0.15. It now includes old and new retweets, and the ability to view original tweets when viewing reply details. You can download the new version at twimgo.com, but make sure to remove older versions before installing the new one.

Three UK Gives a Sneak Peek of Nokia E7, Says It’s Coming Early 2011

Three from the UK just published a video giving their sneak peek of Nokia’s upcoming smartphone, the Nokia E7. They also mentioned it’ll be available on their network early 2011. That’s certainly different from Nokia’s promised release of December 2010, so some of you may be disappointed. Three pointed out the features that stand out on the E7 over its younger brother, Nokia N8, such as the bigger 4-inch Clearblack screen and the slide-out keyboard. Take a look.

Nokia N8 x Tron: Legacy Trailer Projected at Nokia Theater LA

As if there wasn’t enough hype for the upcoming Tron: Legacy movie, a projection on the side of Nokia theater LA shows a trailer along with the Nokia N8. It’s part of a promotion by Nokia called the Inside Track in the LA area. They are giving away tickets to an early screening and even a Nokia N8 device.

Ovi Maps Beta Updated to 3.06, Download Maps Directly from Phone

Nokia India Gives Gov’t Access to Users’ Emails & Messages

Nokia India on Thursday completed installation of servers that will enable security agencies to lawfully snoop into users’ emails and messages. Both Nokia and RIM have been asked by India’s domestic intelligence agency to create lawful interception facilities earlier this year. RIM has until January 2011 to follow in Nokia’s steps, according to the Times of India.
