Nokia to Replace Several Executive Board Members

According to German business weekly Wirtschaftswoche, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has ordered headhunters to look for top people to replace several executive board members. Elop is supposedly planning a radical restructuring of top management. We might hear more about this on February 11th at Capital Markets Day in London.

Wirtschaftswoche (translated) claims Mary T. McDowell, the current head of Nokia’s mobile phones unit, may have to leave the company along with Niklas Savander, the manager of the markets unit. Chief Development Officer Kai Oistamo may have to go, too, as may Tero Ojanpera, the manager responsible for services and mobile solutions.

good – I want to se them succed on the current market place.
Nokia – they way to do it:

Take your best hardware and software.
Take your killer cameras + flashes
Dump Symbian and all other old oses
Take Android, nothing else will cut it.

Make couple of form factors but start with Large screen super fast Nokia device with superb camera that can outshine all the competition.

    Start making revenue like crazy

Sigh, yet another Android nutter. Nokia should dump their entire OS and services stack and become another 2 bit hardware manufacturer struggling with all the others to differentiate their offering from the remaining Android clones? While the destiny of the OS and services remains under the control of Google? Yeah right. See how that worked for IBM after licensing the OS to Microsoft and a hundred PC manufacturers appeared competing on wafer thin margins.

Doesn’t anyone even pause to think for a moment before making this ridiculous suggestion?

Please..no symbian dumping. The current symbian^3 is great already. If they were to dump one, dump s60v5.

Sorry to go off topic. Mark what do you think should Nokia dump Symbian? And if they do what OS would you like them to choose and why?

I’m a Mark irl. I think they should forge ahead with the best smartphone OS in the market right now, Symbian. MeeGo is good for high-end computing related stuff but Symbian is still the most effective smartphone OS. Lets hold off judgement on Symbian’s future until they’ve introduced the new UI and QtWebkit browser improvememnts.

If I’m happy with the device, I don’t care what OS it runs. Sources inside Nokia told me Android/WM7 aren’t going to happen, but they’re not sure either. We’ll just have to wait.
