Apple Pays Up in Patent License Agreement With Nokia
This is probably the first positive Nokia news I’ve seen in a while. Nokia just announced that Apple will be giving a one-time payment and on-going royalties due to a recently signed patent license agreement. The specific terms of the contract are confidential, but intellectual property expert, Florian Mueller, says that there’s serious money in this for Nokia.

“We are very pleased to have Apple join the growing number of Nokia licensees,” said Stephen Elop, president and chief executive officer of Nokia in the press release. “This settlement demonstrates Nokia’s industry leading patent portfolio and enables us to focus on further licensing opportunities in the mobile communications market.”
