Nokia US and UK Online Shops No Longer Open

June 30th, 2011. It’s the day Nokia US and UK closed down their online stores. You will no longer be able to buy directly online from Nokia in these countries, but don’t worry. Nokia devices will still be on sale at several online shops. Nokia recommends Amazon.

Store Closed

Some of Nokia’s online stores in other regions closed down earlier. It looks like June 30th is Round 2. Let us know if the Nokia online store in your area was also recently affected.

Very sad. I can’t believe these kind of changes are happening. I’m pulling for Nokia’s success, but I feel like the things that made them unique are being erased.

I’m still sad I never got to go to a Nokia retail store. I kept hoping they’d open one in Los Angeles since I couldn’t make it to Chicago or New York, and then instead of opening more they closed the only 2 US stores. I suppose it’ll be a nice change to be able to buy a high end Nokia WP7 from a US carrier.

It is a little sad, but OTOH it would seem a little insane to buy a phone from Nokia’s shop, given Amazon’s prices and incredible returns policy. It might make it harder to get certain accessories, and it doesn’t “look” good…
