Video: Nokia Maps Updated With Heat Maps, 3D Cities, Hotel Booking
Check out maps.nokia.com for new updates. Three more cities got added to 3D view, but the coolest update is probably the heat map. You can now check out where the hot spots are for shopping, nightlife, food, and tourist attractions. They’ve also added an option to book a hotel directly from the map. I made a screencast to show you how it looks on my browser.
Nokia Windows Phone Leaked from Factory
I love this latest leak from Nokia because it’s not the usual shaky blurry photo that we’re used to. Here we have a clear video of the Nokia Sea Ray prototype running Windows Phone 7. The background noise makes us speculate it was recorded from a factory. Now let me shut up so you can watch the video.
Eldar Murtazin: Nokia Windows Phones Won’t Be Special
If you’ve been following Nokia news, you may have come across the name Eldar Murtazin before. Finland’s national broadcasting company, YLE, met with Eldar in Moscow to discuss Windows Phone. Iceland Roadrip: Nokia Report Card
I’m currently at a hostel on my last night in Iceland to sit down and report how well Nokia devices have treated my family during our mini vacation. The Nokia N8 was my main device while the Nokia Astound (also known as the Nokia C7) was borrowed by my wife. I got one prepaid data-only SIM card for the Nokia N8 because it was the only unlocked mobile phone we had on this trip.
Off to Iceland!
A few hours from now, I’ll be in Iceland with the wife and siblings for a mini-vacation. I’m not sure how reliable the internet connection will be, but I’m going to try to get a prepaid SIM card as soon as I land. I have plenty of devices at home including the the iPhone and some Androids, but only my Nokia phones are unlocked! We’ll be relying mostly on the Nokia N8 and Joikuspot to keep us connected.
More Photos of the Gold Phone, Nokia Oro
We’ve shown you photos of the Nokia Oro by way of the FCC, but we’ve found more hands-on photos in higher quality from NokNok. The Oro upgrades the Nokia C7 with 18-carat gold plating, leather back, sapphire crystal button, and Symbian Anna OS. These upgrades will cost extra. The Nokia Oro is expected to sell at about 800 Euros. Photos after the jump.
Thanks for the Sketch #NokiaCannes
I occasionally get packages from WOMWorld, a Nokia-sponsored resource on all things Nokia. They’re also known for letting people all over the world try out Nokia devices. Today, they delivered something very personal. Take a look.
First Nokia Windows Phone Still on Track for 2011
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has been telling everyone that the first Nokia device with Windows Phone is targeted for fourth quarter of 2011. The Holidays 2011 would be a key goal, he said in the D9 interview. This morning, the @Nokia account tweeted something that got us worried. They said shipment starts early next year! We reached out to Nokia for clarification. Read on, for the current official word on the release date.
Nokia 700 Zeta Press Photos Leaked
Without any official announcements yet, we’ve stumbled upon a couple of very official-looking photos of what’s likely to be called the Nokia 700 or Zeta. The photos seem to back up a few rumors about a Symbian Belle OS and a 5-megpixel camera. Rumors also include features such as 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, NFC, and 1GHz processor.
Nokia Cuts Smartphone Prices in Europe by 15%
A Nokia spokesman told Reuters it is business as usual, but Nokia has cut the prices of its smartphones in Europe. The steepest cuts of around 15 percent were made on prices for the company’s flagship model, the N8, the multimedia phone C7, as well as the business user-targeted E6. The scale of the price cuts across the portfolio is unseen for a very, very long time according to Reuters’ sources.
