Chris Weber, President of Nokia North America, recently talked to VentureBeat about Windows Phones, US carriers, and the changes in US operations. One part of the interview might get some Android fanboys angry. Weber said Android has the worst email client he has ever seen.
Chris Weber said Android does a great job syncing Gmail, but it’s terrible with other email systems like Exchange or Hotmail. On the other hand, Windows Phone’s integration is more advanced and seamless. He told VentureBeat that Windows Phone does a better job bridging all the email systems.
Another notable topic that Weber touched upon is Nokia’s new carrier approach in North America. Devices will be available exclusively through operators. He said, “No unlocked channels and no open distribution. It’s a big change for us. We’re going to be the most operator-friendly company around.” This will certainly be a big change for US consumers who are used to buying Nokia phones at unlocked and unsubsidized prices.
