Demo: Force Control Widget for Symbian
Here’s a quick look at the Force Control Widget for Symbian. Force Control gives you access to common settings in a few clicks. You can adjust the display brightness (25%, 50%, 100%), screen rotation on/off, bluetooth on/off, WLAN scanning on/off, and profile switching. It’s available at the Ovi Store for 99 cents. BETA: Ovi Store Update for Nokia N8
An interesting item showed up in software update for my Nokia N8. It says BETA: Ovi Store update. The description says it is “optional and needed only if Store stopped working after update from PS1 to Belle SW.” It’s weird because my Nokia N8 doesn’t have the Belle update yet. It’s running Anna. I love the new look and UI on the upcoming Nokia N9. I especially like the squircle icons and wanted to create one for The Nokia Blog’s Twitter profile. I made a video tutorial for you to follow. I’m not a Photoshop expert, so I’m not sure if this is the best way to do it.

Nokia is launching a global crowdsourcing campaign to find a new version of the Nokia Tune. The competition starts today and entrants have 4 weeks to enter their compositions. Five runner-ups will be awarded $1,000 USD, while the winner will be awarded $10,000 USD. Nokia is looking for a tune that is fresh, expressive, original, and creative yet distinctively a Nokia Tune.

Nokia N9 Releasing to 3 Carriers & All Major Retailers in Australia This October
Nokia Australia just announced the Nokia N9 will be available in October and will be sold through Optus, Telstra, Vodafone plus all major retailers. The suggested price is AUD$799 before subsidies and taxes. Of course, this doesn’t help if you live elsewhere.
