Teen soap opera in the UK, Hollyoaks, landed a major product placement deal with Nokia. The show will feature Nokia Lumia smartphones for four months starting in July.

Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 handsets will be used by a select group of characters and integrated into storylines. Nokia Lumia posters will also be placed prominently at certain scenes and characters will be seen wearing Monster’s Purity HD headphones. Two characters from the series will also be developed off-screen and tweet as their on-screen Hollyoaks characters to promote Nokia Lumia.

Hollyoaks is set in a fictional suburb of Chester and is centred around a college called Hollyoaks Community College. The characters are generally in their late teens or early twenties.

According to Broadcastnow, this is the second major product placement deal for the soap opera. The first was a six-month agreement with beauty brand L’Oreal that runs until late summer.

The contract between Nokia, C4 and producer Lime Pictures was brokered by media agency Carat. There’s no word on what the deal is worth.
