Nokia EOS: Pureview Lumia With Lossless Zoom

Sources have told The Verge that Nokia plans to release a Lumia device with a similar camera sensor found on the Nokia 808 Pureview. That means lossless zoom. Codenamed Nokia EOS, The Verge also claims it will be built using aluminum rather than the typical polycarbonate found on recent Nokia Lumia devices.

The sensor on the Nokia 808 Pureview is pretty big, so I hope Nokia figured out a way to decrease its size put it in a thinner device.

We don’t know the size of the display and its pricing or availability, but maybe we’ll learn more at Mobile World Congress in a few weeks.

Are you excited about Pureview on the next Nokia Lumia device?

Smaller? No way, needs to be bigger. I’m hoping for a full 1″ sensor.

Oops not what I meant to say. Edited the sentence.

“that means lossless zoom”: honestly, this is the least interesting part of the tech from my view. pixel over sampling, possibly combined with OIS, that’s where it’s at!

the 808′s sensor is good for a lot more than just lossless zoom! ;)

I used the 808 for many months and by far the lossless zoom was the most useful feature. I sorely miss it on my 920

to each their own, i guess. i never had the 808, but the only reason i wanted one over the N8 we already have is for the better quality images from a non-zoomed in state. maybe once you’ve got that, though, the zoom is a really tasty icing on the cake.

Hopefully we get all the Pureview tech in the next flagship. Lossless zoom, OIS, oversampling, and maybe a surprise

yes – and a huge sensor! i’m with Al (below) in wanting a full 1″ sensor. of course nokia doesn’t have to go nearly that far to differentiate in the marketplace, but what a great milestone it would be :)

If they anounce something like this in MWC I will be skipping the Lumia 920 that I was waiting to lower the price a little bit

there’s always something ‘coming soon.’ By the time that phone is released, we’ll hear rumors about a better device.

Yeap, thats right, but actually the main reason I haven´t really bought the Lumia 920 it’s because I am unable to find it unlocked at a decent price. The thing is that I live in Ecuador and by the time Nokia Lumia 920 is available here, there for sure will be already another Nokia flagship on the market, For example, the Lumia 900 was announced here about a month ago. So the only way to keep up with the nicest gadgets in Latin America is to buy them on USA. My current Lumia 900 was bought in Canada from Rogers a few days after it was released.
I think nokia and Microsoft should release their devices a little faster in Latin America
