So you’ve probably heard that Microsoft is buying Nokia’s devices and services. The words Asha and Lumia are going to Microsoft. The brand “Nokia” is still owned by Nokia, but they’re not allowed to use that name on any mobile devices until the end of 2015.

So what’s going to happen to upcoming Lumia Windows Phone devices? Microsoft said the names are going to be shorter. That’s vague, but I think it means we’re going to see a name like the Lumia 1520 instead of a Nokia Lumia 1520. It’s probably not a good idea to go with a name like the Microsoft Lumia 1520.
