According to The Verge, Microsoft is preparing an update for Windows Phone 8 that will add FM radio support for the Nokia Lumia 820, Nokia Lumia 920, and other compatible devices. Nokia is also expected to add a firmware update that will allow users to double-tap the screen to wake the device from standby.

Nokia Blocks Google’s Plan To Standardize VP8 Codec

Google has been trying to push its own video codec, VP8, as a web standard, but Nokia has moved to block the plans. In a statement to FOSS Patents, Nokia said Google is forcing the adoption of its proprietary technology, which offers no advantages over existing, widely deployed standards such as H.264 and infringes Nokia’s intellectual property.
