Name Any Tune With Shazam iD - The Most Amazing App For Nokia S60
My latest discovery is Shazam iD, an application that gives you the title and artist of any song playing wherever you are. Your phone listens to a few seconds of the song, analyzes it, searches some database online, then shows the information all within a few seconds. I’m dumbfounded how it’s possible, but this really cool to show off!

Shazam iD analyzing a song for information.
I’ve been trying it several times using my own song collection, the radio, and even some random ones from Last.fm. Shazam iD found a match almost every time. It couldn’t find some matches when I tried random foreign language songs. It surprisingly found some foreign songs too so don’t completely disregard that category!

After analysis, it tells you title, artist, and album art. Cool!
Other than showing it off to my friends, I can use Shazam iD to find info of:
- the song playing on the radio to download later
- background music playing on a video or movie
- song playing at a club to download later
Download
The official Shazam site says it is only available to UK users and can only be downloaded by sending an SMS first. But there are other ways to download that app if you are not in the UK… try this Nokia Mosh download link or this S60 download link.
Special thanks to Amir from Phone-Rush for letting me know about this app!

Great find! Love it! Thanks! If I can only embed the album art/title to my nameless music collections.

Sounds great, unfortunately when trying to install (N95-1) I am told that the certificate has expired and cannot install it. I tried both sources. Too bad…

@weckman changing the date to 2007, then installing the app, then changing the date back to current works for some people.

It certainly is, idea for those moments when you hear that tune you keep hearing, but never knew what it was called, or who sang it.
Brilliant.!

Shazam as a service has been around in the UK for a good few years now - but as a dial-in:
You hear music, dial ‘2580′, hold the phone to the speaker and within minutes they’ll text you back with the track details.
The guys behind the service came to Mobile Geeks of London in Las Vegas at CTIA earlier this year and told me about their ideas for an app… I honestly thought it was a step in the wrong direction.
It seems they maybe onto a winner.
Great to see.

Hi!
Very interested in shazam.
Downloaded it from the provided link, but can’t install to my Nokia E90.
Kindly advise if there is any way around it.
Also, since this is a trial(30 days??), what to do after that if it works. Want to purchase a license, but seems it is only for UK (are we all living on the same planet ?
)
Thanks

Hi Sukan, any luck with making it work on the E90? Have been trying on my E90, but “absolutly nothing” (From the movie Rush Hour, without Shazam)!
