Hooray for Mac and Nokia users! We can now try out Device Status from Nokia Beta Labs. It is a self-diagnosis tool that allows you to collect detailed information of S60 device. I did not want to install it before because it was only available in a .exe Windows file format, meaning I had to run Windows XP on my Mac. It is now available as a .sis file where we can simply bluetooth it over to our phone and install.
I am reviewing the Nokia N81 8GB in two parts. In this post, I’ll go in-depth with the form factor of the phone and how it is related to the functions. I’ll review about using the Nokia N81 8GB interface and software in a later post. For the the physical aspects of the N81 8GB, I think the phone is well designed and nicely built, but it has a few annoyances.
Matt Jones from Nokia Geek has a video of his initial impressions preview of the Nokia N95 8GB. In the first of a few expected series, he covered the physical aspects of the Nokia N95 8GB. He says the device is well built with great quality. He loves the bigger screen and shiny black color. Check out the rest of his thoughts in the video.
One of the things I love about my Nokia N95 is its 5-megapixel camera. Since I don’t leave home without my phone, that means I always have my camera. So when my girlfriend told me she wanted to bring her cousins from California to the Brooklyn Bridge, I had my camera with me to snap pictures like a tourist in New York City.
I received a final production of the Nokia N81 8GB today for testing. I made a video of the unboxing as well as a few minutes of initial usage with it. Right off the bat, I wanted to see the Navi wheel, new multimedia menu, and the N-gage games. I’ll leave my initial thoughts and review for a later post. Check out the video!
I used my Apple Macbook Pro to update the Nokia N93i to the latest firmware as of writing this entry, version 30.0.013, using VMware Fusion without any problems. As you may know, Nokia Software Update only works on Windows. If you are a Mac user, you get the benefits of both worlds by being able to run Windows on a Mac.
I’ll review the newly released Nokia N95-3 that works with the US AT&T 3G. In summary, it is the Nokia N95 that should have been released in the first place because of the better build quality and better performance. What do I think? The new Nokia N95-3 brings attention to the flaws of the older version, but I think it is currently the best phone/device out there.
The Nokia Los Angeles Mansion Party will be unforgettable for me. First of all, Nokia flew me from New York to join them in Los Angeles. Then I get the opportunity to meet many of the Nokia blogging/forums community in person in one place. To top it all, I talked one-on-one with the product managers responsible for the phones and devices I love. Reviews, videos, and interviews will be posted later in separate posts.
