Twitter application for Windows Phone, Rowi, was just updated to version 3.4. There are 2 new features that I’d like to mention. You can now receive tweets instantly inside of Rowi. No need to click a refresh button or pull-down to refresh. You can now also receive push notifications instantly. No more delays in getting notified of mentions, retweets, follows, or favorites.
Viber for Windows Phone was just updated today. According to the Windows Phone team blog, the redesigned app offers free calls with HD sound, pinning of conversations to Start via Live Tiles, lock screen notifications, and beautiful improvements to its look and performance for Windows Phone 8.
Zinio and Nokia announced a partnership today to launch an app for the world’s largest digital newsstand exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8. Zinio is already on iOS, Android, and Windows 8. Exact release date for Nokia Lumia devices was not mentioned in the press release.
Pandora for Windows Phone 8 is now available. It’s always good news whenever popular apps from other platforms make it to Windows Phone. You now have several apps on Windows Phone for your music. There’s also Xbox Music, Nokia Music, Spotify, and more. Demo of Pandora after the jump.
Version 2.4 update for Skype was released today. They have significantly improved video calling quality for all users, offering VGA video on lower end handsets and 720P HD on higher-end devices like the Nokia Lumia 920. Skype contacts will also be listed in the People Hub for users with the latest update to Windows Phone 8.
SNUpload is my new favorite app for Windows Phone. It lets you upload photos to multiple Twitter, Facebook (including pages), Dropbox, and Flickr accounts, with more to come in updates. If you like, you can also edit the photos before uploading. Demo on the Nokia Lumia 920 after jump.
One app that many Windows Phone users have been asking for is Instagram. Nokia released an app today called #2InstaWithLove as a way for us to have our voices heard. The app adds a filter to your photo and adds the hashtag when you share to your social network. Hopefully, the people in charge at Instagram see enough demand from the Windows Phone community.
Two popular games from Disney for Windows Phone 8 are going to be free tomorrow, January 17th at the Windows Phone store: Where’s My Water and Where’s My Perry. Both games are highly reviewed. They’re normally 99 cents at the store.
