Mobbler is now out in beta for the Nokia N8 or other Symbian^3 devices like the C7, C6-01, and E7. Mobbler allows you to listen to your Last.fm radio stations using keywords or artist names. You can also scrobble tracks played using the standard music player. If you’re interested in taking part of the beta testing, request to join through the sign up form.
JoikuSpot Premium is finally at the Ovi Store for Symbian^3 devices such as the Nokia N8, C7, and E7. For $9.99 you can turn your phone into a WiFi hotspot. Connect your iPad, laptop, or other devices to internet using your mobile phone as a 3G modem. There’s no need for a USB dongle, cable, or bluetooth connection. Watch the short video I made so you can see how it works on the Nokia N8.
I was pretty excited to hear that Swype showed up at the Ovi Store for Symbian^3 devices. It’s a keyboard replacement that I’m absolutely in love with on the Android platform and glad that it’s now available on the new Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8. If the app is not showing up at the Ovi Store for your N8, there’s a direct link for download.
Nokia showed off their upcoming Foursquare app for Symbian phones at Nokia World 2010. Kee from Nokia got in front of our camera and used the Nokia N8 to give you a sneak peek. The app will be at the Ovi Store in a couple of weeks. It is compatible with Symbian^3 like the Nokia N8, Symbian^1 like the Nokia N97, and S60 3.2 like the Nokia E72.
For our next #NokiaBox challenge, we were asked to submit our fastest time typing “The quick brown fox jumped over the NokiaBox,” using the touchscreen and the QWERTY keyboard on the Nokia C6. My teammate Erick used QWERTY while I opted for the touchscreen. Our combined time will set our entry. Watch my part of the challenge after the jump.
Gravity, one of our favorite apps for Symbian was just updated to version 1.32 (build 6601) to include a new images section. It also fixes a couple of bugs. The new image section lets you easily change the image size and the photo hosting service on the fly. We have a video after the jump to show you how it looks.
Shazam for Symbian just received a major re-design. If you are unfamiliar with the app, Shazam tells you more about the current music playing around you. For example, you love the song that’s playing at the bar, but you no idea who the artist is. Just open up Shazam and let it find out for you.
I Parked Here is an app for Symbian that lets you remember your car’s parking space with a click of a button. It can find your car with the help of Ovi Maps and its free turn-by-turn voice navigation. Just press “Find my car” to get directions. This is great for me because I always forget where I park my car.
