SurfCube 3D Browser Is Better Than Internet Explorer for Windows Phone
SurfCube is a web browser for Windows Phone available at the Marketplace. You can choose to use it on the Nokia Lumia 800 instead of Internet Explorer. It has an interesting 3D interface. Swipe from edges to open tabs, settings, or the address bar. If you don’t like the swipe gestures, you can enable the bottom menu to navigate through the app.
Pixelpipe Google Apps Browser Now Available to Beta Testers
You might have heard of Pixelpipe, our favorite tool for uploading photos, videos, and other files to our favorite social sites. Today, they’ve released a completely different app that’s optimized for accessing multiple Google services. It’s currently in beta and they’re asking testers for feedback. Sneak Peek: Symbian PR2.0 Portrait Keyboard & New Browser Screenshots
Let’s take a little break from the Windows and Nokia rumors. We just received a few screenshots of the Symbian PR2.0 update. You get to preview the new browser and portrait keyboard that were missing in PR1.1. Sorry, but no word yet on when to expect it. I hope it’s sooner than later.
Opera Mobile 10.1 for Nokia Smartphones Now Final
Opera today released the final version of Opera Mobile 10.1 for Symbian/Series 60 phones. A lot of emphasis is placed on speed, especially in javascript performance. Support for geolocation is also included, so web services such as maps and travel applications can recognize your location to provide you with customized, relevant content.
Nokia N8 Web Browser Gets Demoed on Video
A video showing the Nokia N8 and its web browser popped up on YouTube. It didn’t have the cool professional lighting from Nokia’s official videos and you had to turn your head to watch it. However, it gave us a nice little preview of the web browser for the upcoming device. Unfortunately it was immediately taken down.
Nokia Acquires Novarra to Improve Browsing Experience on Series 40 Devices
Nokia announced on Friday it has signed an agreement to acquire Novarra, whose mobile browser and service platform will be used by Nokia in Series 40 devices later this year. Following the acquisition, Novarra will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nokia.
Video: How to Enable The Hidden Portrait Mode On Nokia N900 Web Browser
I noticed a bug report about portrait mode on the Nokia N900′s web browser. Wait… there’s portrait view now? It seems this hidden feature can be enabled on the web browser by pressing Ctrl-Shift-o. This works on the latest Nokia N900 firmware 2.2009.51-1 and seems to be an undocumented feature. I made a video to show you how it looks.
