At first glance, the Nokia 701 looks very similar to the current Nokia C7. The spec sheets don’t show much difference, but the Nokia 701 essentially gets an increase in CPU, RAM, and updated Symbian Belle OS. Here’s a video comparing the performance of the browser, video player, and multitasking.
The long-awaited Symbian Anna update is now available for the Nokia Nokia N8, C7, C6-01, and the E7. The update includes new icons, portrait QWERTY keyboard (yay!), faster web browser, and other minor improvements. I recorded a video to show Anna for those who haven’t updated yet.
Nokia just launched an online service to help businesses begin using NFC solutions. The NFC Hub lets businesses buy generic NFC tagged posters, aimed at directing people to websites, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and other URLs, plus tagged business cards. Nokia predicts NFC tags will be everywhere, and used for many different things.
Proxama, a supplier of near-field communication (NFC) technology worked with Nokia on NFC-tagged posters displayed in New York and Los Angeles. The campaign was rolled out this week. The posters let commuters and pedestrians tap an icon on the ads with their NFC-enabled phone to view an exclusive clip of the show Basketball Wives.
I’m currently at a hostel on my last night in Iceland to sit down and report how well Nokia devices have treated my family during our mini vacation. The Nokia N8 was my main device while the Nokia Astound (also known as the Nokia C7) was borrowed by my wife. I got one prepaid data-only SIM card for the Nokia N8 because it was the only unlocked mobile phone we had on this trip.
We’ve shown you photos of the Nokia Oro by way of the FCC, but we’ve found more hands-on photos in higher quality from NokNok. The Oro upgrades the Nokia C7 with 18-carat gold plating, leather back, sapphire crystal button, and Symbian Anna OS. These upgrades will cost extra. The Nokia Oro is expected to sell at about 800 Euros. Photos after the jump.
The next Nokia Symbian device I’m interested in is the Nokia E6. I’m curious about the touch-and-type form factor. Since I like to take photos with my phones, I wanted to see how the camera performs. Surprisingly, there are already a bunch of sample photos on Flickr. Take a look.
Heard of the limited 18-carat gold-plated Nokia Oro? Nokia announced it just a couple of days ago. Premium devices such as the Oro are popular in the Middle East and Russia, but it looks like the US will be selling them as well. The FCC documents for Nokia Oro were published on Friday.
