Nokia Cuts 300 Jobs in IT, Transfers 820

Nokia announced today that it will reduce its global IT organization by up to 300 employees and transfer up to 820 employees to HCL Technologies and TATA Consultancy Services. Nokia said these reductions are part of their cost reduction plans announced in June 2012.

Nokia No Longer Made in Finland

Nokia finalized its plans to close their handset factory in Salo, Finland. The plant made its last mobile phone on Wednesday and 780 people will lose their jobs during this year. This was part of an overhaul announced in June to cut costs.

Nokia Shifting Device Assembly to Asia

In order to increase the Nokia’s competitiveness in the mobile device market, they have announced to transfer production to factories in Asia. About 4,000 jobs from its factories in Hungary, Mexico, and Finland will be cut through the end of 2012.

The Finns can pre-order the E7 for 599 EUR while the Swedes can get them for 5,995 KR. If you’re American, the US dollar conversions might make you cry.
