Nokia N900 Firmware Updated to 3.2010.02-8

The Nokia N900 received an update Tuesday morning to version 3.2010.02-8. It seems to be a minor update since users haven’t noticed any new features. An official changelog hasn’t been shared yet either. The software update is available through the app manager so go ahead and check your N900.

Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini Receives Firmware Updates

Just as expected, the Nokia N97 received the firmware update 2.1 on Monday. As an added bonus, the Nokia N97 mini also received an update. I was notified via the SW update app within the two phones, but they didn’t allow me to update over the air. If you have these devices, connect them to your PC and run the updater.

Nokia N97 Software Update 2.1 Releasing Monday February 1st

The Nokia Software Update team told users at the official Nokia discussions forum that the Nokia N97 software update 2.1 will be released Monday February 1st by 8:00 GMT. The version number will be 21.0.045 or 21.2.045 depending on the region. The 2.1 release is supposed to offer additional improvements to the 2.0 release made last year. They provided a list of what’s new.

Nokia N900 Firmware Updated to 2.2009.51-1 – Changelog Included

The Nokia N900 received a minor update on Monday to prepare for the major update released just now. The Maemo team is calling the update Maemo 5 PR1.1, but the version number is 2.2009.51-1. Nokia has provided the official changelog and wow it is long!

Nokia N900 users were notified by their devices this morning that a firmware update was available on Application Manager. Firmware version 1.2009.44.1 is now currently the most recent public firmware, but word is that this is only a minor one in preparation for a major update coming soon.

He has been quoted by Engadget as an “ultimate insider when it come to all things mobile,” so I’d probably listen to what he has to say. Whether you believe him or not, I’d like to ask what would you like to see on the update?

Nokia N900 Firmware Update PR1.1 Sent to Select Few – Still No Portrait Browser

We’re not sure when the next Nokia N900 firmware update will come out, but a few selected contributors received emails to join the testing. According to the Maemo community mailing list, Nokia is calling the maintenance update Fremantle PR1.1. While testers didn’t sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), they are encouraged not to share details about the unreleased firmware to the public.

Nokia N86 Upcoming Firmware To Include Camera Face Detection & Improved Photo Quality

All About Symbian reports that the next firmware on the Nokia N86 will include camera face detection for autofocus and an improvement in overall photo quality. The system will be similar to other cameras where faces will be tracked anywhere in the frame and followed by the camera for proper focus and exposure.

I asked a Nokia spokesperson at Nokia World to show me the new firmware 2.0 on the Nokia N97. It will feature usability enhancement, additional widgets, updated Facebook app, increased free internal memory, as well as stability improvements. The firmware is going to be available in Software Update this October.

4 Bugs on Nokia N97 That Give Me a Headache

The first firmware update arrived for the Nokia N97 on July 1st, but there are still major bugs related to the camera that are very frustrating. I hope Nokia repairs these bugs soon because it is ruining my usage experience. I’ve reported these back to Nokia and am awaiting for their response.
