Must-Have App: Maps Booster by Skyhook Wireless
My Nokia phones need to find my position accurately and quickly since I use location services like geotagging photos, checking-in on Foursquare, or navigating with Ovi maps. Fortunately there’s a revolutionary app called Maps Booster that helps your Symbian phone find your location really fast no matter what other applications need it. That’s right… I said revolutionary. If you don’t believe me, watch Steve Jobs explain the awesome technology behind the app.
Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Firmware Updated to v40 – Feels Incomplete
The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition got a firmware update to software version 40.2.005, but it feels incomplete. Kinetic scrolling is not applied everywhere like in the Nokia N97 mini and the original N97. The new Ovi maps with free navigation isn’t included within the new firmware either, so you have another download to take care of if you haven’t installed it previously.

Nokia just announced that their new Ovi Maps with free walk and drive navigation have been downloaded 1.4 million times since it was launched on January 21st, 2010. “We’re averaging a download a second, 24 hours a day,” said Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President, Nokia.
Video: Google Maps Mobile on Nokia N900 Web Browser
One major thing missing from the Nokia N900 is an official Google Maps application. Fortunately, the mobile version of their website looks like a good solution until Google decides to release a native app for Maemo and the Nokia N900. I’ve created a video to show you how it looks.

Vlog: Top 5 Things I Do on My Nokia N85
I always carry my phone around and admittedly take it out of my pocket many times a day. This past weekend, I’ve had people ask me on separate occasions what I was doing on my phone. I thought I’d make a video to show instead of tell. Here’s a video of the top 5 things I use or do with my phone, which is currently the Nokia N85.
Nokia Maps 3.0 Beta Updated – I Still Can’t Install It
Back in December, Nokia Beta Labs released Nokia Maps 3.0 Beta with better looking maps, 3D landmarks, and other features. However, I could not install it after several attempts. Today, they announced another update to the Maps 3.0 Beta, but again, I could not install it. The problem is with the installation steps.
DIY Alternative Nseries Bicycle Cradle
I live in Bogotá, Colombia, and the traffic is just insane. Usually most of the time the best way to go around for small trips is using a bicycle, which has been my ride for 15 years now. It was frustrating not being able to follow my trip on Sportstracker, until I read about a cradle ideal for sportstracker here on The Nokia Blog. It was exactly what I needed but according to Mark, it was a prototype and no one knows if it will hit the streets someday. Therefore, I made my own one with the materials I found handy.
Vlog: Street View Comes to Google Maps on Nokia S60 Phones
Finally! Google today announced that street view is now available for S60 phones. Now you can actually see what the place looks like before you get there. I created a video demo to show you how it looks like on my Nokia N85.
Nokia Map Loader for Mac is Out
Nokia Beta Labs announced this morning the beta release of Map Loader for Mac 1.0. I previously transferred maps on my Mac running Windows, but I no longer need to! This should make things easier for the Mac users.
