Nokia X5 (TA-1109) is now official with Helio P60 – Starts from ¥999

The Nokia X5 (TA-1109) is finally revealed at a launch event in China. The phone matches with essentially everything that we saw in the leaks. The phone features the infamous “Notch” and comes packed with the Helio P60 processor which looks like nothing less than a dream.

Hardware Specifications

Much like the Nokia X6, the Nokia X5 also features a dual-glass manufacturing. Similar dual cameras sit on the back. The notch on the front of the display is definitely wider, leaving very less room for the notification icons.

The Nokia X5 definitely packs a punch when it comes to the raw hardware. It ticks many boxes of what a user expects from his/her smartphone. The phone features the following key hardware specifications:

  • Body dimensions – 149.51 x 71.98 x 8.096 mm
  • Display – 5.86-inch HD+ display in 19:9 aspect ratio(1520×720 resolution)
  • Processor – Mediatek Helio P60 2.0Ghz MT6771
  • Primary Cameras – Dual cameras with 13MP f/2 and 5MP depth of field lens
  • Front Camera – 8MP f/2.2

  • Battery – 3060mAh
  • Android version: Android 8.1 Oreo, upgradeable to Android P
  • Colors – Black, White & Blue

The phone also features a headphone jack and FM radio, something we no longer see in flagship smartphones. There’s face recognition for those too lazy to use the fingerprint scanner. The device is codenamed Panda and it definitely packs the panda’s punch!

Price & Availability

The Nokia X5 is priced aggressively, given China is a very price sensitive market. The X5 is offered in 2 RAM and storage variations and the prices are as under:Nokia X5 stage price

32GB with 3GB RAM – RMB 999 | ~$149 USD | ₹10,200 INR

64GB with 4GB RAM – RMB 1399 | ~$208 USD | ₹14,323 INR

The 64GB version of Nokia X5 is 100 RMB pricier than the 3GB/32GB variant of Nokia X6, which sells for RMB 1299. Overall, the price is very attractive and

(Update: Officially teased) New leak suggests that Nokia X5 (5.1 Plus) is launching in China on July 11

Update 09/06/2018: Nokia Mobile’s official Weibo account has started teasing the launch member of Nokia X family.

Nokia X5 teaser

Nokia X5 or the Nokia 5.1 plus, the renders of which got leaked last month is off to its official debut. As per a recent leak from Baidu, the Nokia X5 is scheduled for a launch in China on the 11th of July 2018.

The source also posted a low resolution image of the object (which looks like a roll-up standee) featuring the Nokia X5 alongside the Nokia X6. The only way we are distinguishing the devices is based on the width of the notch. The notch on the Nokia X5 is much wider than what we saw on the Nokia X6.

Specifications wise, the Nokia X5 will come in a glass-sandwich design, similar to what we have seen in the Nokia X6. The device will be powered by a MediaTek processor. It will feature a 5.86-inch  display in 19:9 aspect ratio and a dual camera setup at the back. Nokia X5 will be available in 3 colors and different storage and RAM configurations.

With the recent leak of Nokia X6’s scheduled launch in Hong Kong, it is kinda confirmed that Nokia will keep the X-series limited to China only. The name of the devices will be changed for the gloabl markets. So, the Nokia X5 can be called as the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
