Nokia 9 PureView: Where to buy, when, and for how much

HMD Global recently introduced the Nokia 9 PureView at MWC 2019 and we have details on its price and availability.

The launch of the device was a big moment for the startup that took up Nokia’s legendary mantle just two years ago. The Nokia 9 PureView is a real flagship, albeit one that appears to have been designed for a 2018 release. The big selling point is, of course, the first of its kind camera setup, made up of no fewer than five sensors. But there’s plenty to like about the Nokia 9 PureView, including an attractive price. Here are the details.

HMD Global officially revealed the Nokia 9 PureView on February 24, 2019, in Barcelona.

Editor’s Pick

At the launch event, HMD was coy about revealing an exact date the device could actually be purchased by the public. However, it eventually announced that the phone would hit store shelves in the United States on March 4, 2019.

It is still unknown when the device will launch in other countries. However, it is assured it is coming to Europe at some point.

Nokia 9 PureView price

In the United States, the Nokia 9 PureView will come with an MSRP of $699. It will be available for purchase from physical Best Buy stores, BestBuy.com, and Amazon.

As a special promotion, HMD is knocking $100 off the list price of the Nokia 9 for the first week of sales, bringing the price down to $599. If you buy the device from Best Buy and activate it on your wireless carrier, you can save an additional $50, bringing the total down to $549. This promotional pricing ends on March 11, 2019.

In Europe, the Nokia 9 PureView will retail for 599 euros.

Limited production run

Nokia 9 PureView

The Nokia 9 PureView is technically a limited-edition device. HMD said it would manufacture a set number of units and would not continue fabrication once stock runs out. This is a pretty odd stance for what’s essentially HMD’s most-hyped phone to date. We suspect it has something to do with the fact that HMD was stuck with building the phone around the Snapdragon 845, instead of the 2019 gold standard, the Snapdragon 855.

This week in Android: MWC 2019 wrap up

MWC 2019 has come to a close, and it was one of the most exciting trade shows in recent memory. We got a ton of new and notable technology, and we gave out our awards accordingly. We put our hands on the Huawei Mate X, Huawei’s first foldable phone. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Mate X folds around the outside of the device. It’s a great design, though we can’t decide which is better. Naturally, Huawei is not impressed with Samsung’s efforts.

Beyond the Mate X, there was a tidal wave of phones coming out of MWC. We saw the Sony Xperia 1, the Nokia 9 Pureview, the LG G8, the LG V50, as well as a host of other connected devices. It was a 5G fest, and that’s just the news in Barcelona. Outside of Spain, we saw new hardware from Google, new hardware for Google Assistant, and a cool new device from HTC.
