Qt-enabled Symbian Smartphone Heading to AT&T in Q1 2011
Today, during AT&T Developer Summit at the Nokia Technical session in Las Vegas, Nokia announced two things. Number 1: Nokia extended the deadline for the $10M Calling All Innovators contest to March 31, 2011. Number 2: A new Qt enabled Symbian smartphone is coming to AT&T in Q1. They didn’t name or show this device, but my gut feeling says it will be the Nokia X7 that was leaked a couple of times already.
Would You Like a Nokia Windows Phone?
Today’s big story is that Nokia may have started talks with Microsoft to create a new line of Windows Phone devices. This rumor comes from mobile insider Eldar Murtazin, who also added that this was a desperation move by the two companies to compete with Android. Whether this rumor is true or not, an interesting question is, “Would you buy a Nokia Windows Phone?”
Nokia Makes Qt its Sole App Development Framework
Nokia made the decision today to focus on Qt as the sole application development framework. This ensures that applications developed on this platform will continue to be compatible with future evolutions of Symbian as well as upcoming MeeGo products such as the Nokia N9. To demonstrate its commitment to Qt, Nokia promises to develop own future applications using Qt.
