Strategy Analytics: No Nokia Tablet at MWC
Strategy Analytics, a market research firm often cited by many publications, reports that Nokia will not announce a Windows tablet at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). There have been rumors of it happening, but the firm believes Nokia will be concentrating on smartphones for MWC this year.
Ford and Nokia Join to Research the Future of Driving
Ford’s research organization will use the Nokia Location Platform to advance innovation for smart and connected vehicles. This includes Nokia’s NAVTEQ Map, as well as cloud services and APIs. For example, Ford’s concept car will learn driver behavior to control, improve upon and personalize vehicle performance.
Nokia Research Shows Off Indoor Mapping
Nokia Research wants to take what’s been done in navigation outdoors and bring it inside. Imagine using your phone to navigate through malls, exhibit halls and other large buildings. According to EE Times, Nokia gathered about 30 companies including chip makers and service providers on Tuesday at the Sunnyvale offices to show off their research. They want to create a formal group to set global standards for such indoor navigation services by 2013.

Nokia N8 Demo of Plug and Touch from Nokia Research Center
Nokia Plug and Touch is a gesture-based technology from Beijing’s Nokia Research Center (NRC). It can transform any screen into a touchscreen. Marshall from NRC shows us this technology direct from Nokia World in London. He uses the Nokia N8 connected to an HDTV via the HDMI output. The gestures are recognized by the Nokia N8′s camera.
