<p>Some lucky folks get to to play with phones not yet available to the public like the <a href="http://thenokiablog.com/2009/03/17/hands-on-with-the-nokia-n97-and-nokia-e75/" title="Nokia N97 Hands-On">Nokia N97</a> and the Nokia N86 then upload their photos to <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mackarus/" title="Mark's Flickr">Flickr</a>. I&#8217;m sure you want to preview the image quality before these devices hit the sales floor. I&#8217;ll show you how to find these photos, but hope I don&#8217;t get anyone in trouble by sharing this information.<span id="more-2451"></span></p>

<p>We will be using Google to find these photos. It&#8217;s simple. Ready? Just search this:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=site:flickr.com+%22Taken+with+a+Nokia+N97%22" title="Search for Nokia N97 photos">site:flickr.com &#8220;Taken with a Nokia N97&#8243;</a></li>
</ul>
<p>You can replace the device to whatever upcoming phone you want to check out and you might get lucky.</p>
<p>When you are at a photo page, scroll down and look for the camera information on the right column. It looks like this:</p>
<p class="center"><img src="http://thenokiablog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/nokia-n97-flickr.jpg" alt="Nokia N97 Flickr.jpg" border="0" width="277" height="150" /></p>
<p>Some photos show up as being &#8220;taken with a Nokia&#8221; without a model number or name. I suspect those are very early prototypes. Let us know if you find anything interesting!</p>

I&#8217;ve taken several photos with the Nokia 5800 and it makes me miss my N85 and especially the Nokia N82. The photos from the Nokia 5800 are noticeably worse. Take a look at sample photos I took this past weekend.

<p>I&#8217;ve taken several photos with the <a href="http://thenokiablog.com/2009/03/19/nokia-5800-review-of-hardware/" title="Nokia 5800 Review of Hardware | The Nokia Blog">Nokia 5800</a> and it makes me miss my N85 and especially the Nokia N82. The photos from the Nokia 5800 are noticeably worse. Take a look at sample photos I took this past weekend.<span id="more-2239"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mackarus/3422155789/" title="Nokia 5800 sample by mackarus, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3623/3422155789_a916e17c51.jpg" width="448" height="336" alt="Nokia 5800 sample" /></a></p>
<p>Head to the blog if you can&#8217;t see the embedded slideshows below. Photos were taken from the Nokia 5800 NAM with v20 firmware under automatic settings.</p>
<h4>Daylight</h4>
<p><object width="448" height="336"><param name="flashvars" value="&#038;offsite=true&amp;lang=en-us&#038;page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616486467454%2Fshow%2F&#038;page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616486467454%2F&#038;set_id=72157616486467454&#038;jump_to="></param><param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=69832"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=69832" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="&#038;offsite=true&amp;lang=en-us&#038;page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616486467454%2Fshow%2F&#038;page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616486467454%2F&#038;set_id=72157616486467454&#038;jump_to=" width="448" height="336"></embed></object></p>
<p>All the photos were taken in automatic mode. The photos during the day doesn&#8217;t seem to have the right white balance, showing inaccurate colors. Even when the photos are resized smaller, I still notice artifacts resulting in somewhat grainy photos.</p>
<h4>Lounge w/ Low-Light</h4>
<p><object width="448" height="336"><param name="flashvars" value="&#038;offsite=true&amp;lang=en-us&#038;page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616482201974%2Fshow%2F&#038;page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616482201974%2F&#038;set_id=72157616482201974&#038;jump_to="></param><param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=69832"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=69832" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="&#038;offsite=true&amp;lang=en-us&#038;page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616482201974%2Fshow%2F&#038;page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Fmackarus%2Fsets%2F72157616482201974%2F&#038;set_id=72157616482201974&#038;jump_to=" width="448" height="336"></embed></object></p>
<p>Don&#8217;t bother taking the Nokia 5800 to a bar or lounge. Even with the dual-leds flash, your friends will look green if you get close enough to light them. Step back for a full-body shot and you might be lucky to see just a glimpse of them in the dark.</p>
<h4>Thoughts</h4>
<p>For a 3 megapixel Carl-Zeiss camera with dual-LED&#8217;s flash, I was hoping to see better pictures from the <a href="http://thenokiablog.com/go/nokia-5800/" title="Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Unlocked Cell Phone">Nokia 5800</a>. It did not meet my expectations, but maybe I expected too much. What do you think? Does it meet your expectations?</p>
