Mark/Space Releases GoGadget to Sync Music, Photos, Ringtones, Video, and Docs For Mac and Nokia N900

Mark/Space partnered with Nokia to release GoGadget for the Nokia N900 Friday afternoon. It enables synchronization of music, photos, ringtones, video, and documents from a Mac to a Nokia N900 connected through a USB cable. It works similar to Nokia Multimedia Transfer, but offers a couple more features.

GoGadget for N900 works with iTunes to transfer whole playlists of music, with album art, genre and artist info. Save photos you snap with your Nokia N900 to your computer, into iPhoto. Transfer photos from your computer too – to make an N900 a digital photo album that’s always with you. Drag a video to GoGadget and it is converted to fit the phone’s screen size for a great viewing experience. These three features, however, are already offered for free using Nokia Multimedia Transfer.

Two things GoGadget has that NMT doesn’t are synchronization of ringtones and files/documents. The ringtone editor is pretty cool. Choose a song, trim, and name it. The audio meter also guides you with the trimming. Ringtones are transferred on the Nokia N900 the next time it is synced.

I told you about Google Sync with push contacts and calendar on May. I really love how I can edit my phonebook and be able to access or edit it online with any computer. You have to see it in action to really appreciate this FREE feature. Take a look.

In this video demo, I am using the Nokia N97, but it should also work with other Nokia phones.

I noticed that whenever I make changes on Google Contacts with a computer, it automatically syncs with the phone within 10-30 seconds. Changes or additions on the phone seems to show up online within 10 minutes automatically. You can do a manual sync if you are impatient.

Setting up Google Sync on my Nokia 5800 after reading the announcement on Wednesday made me very happy! Whatever I edit or add on my phone’s calendar or contacts automatically show up within minutes in my computer. This works from computer to phone as well. Since the data is stored by Google, it is also accessible from any computer I use with internet connection. The best thing about this is I don’t need to manually sync each time I make any changes. Thanks Google!

Setup

Setting up Google Sync requires installing Mail for Exchange on your Nokia handset. Visit m.google.com/sync from your desktop and follow the instructions.

Not perfect

I’m really glad that this is finally supported on Nokia phones, but it’s not perfect. My all-day entries show up as 12AM-12AM appointments on the phone. Other users also want multiple calendar support that is not currently available.
