Symbian UI Overhaul & Phones with Optical Zoom Expected Next Year
Senior Manager Gunther Kottzieper shared some of Nokia’s plans for 2011 at the International Mobile Internet Conference in Beijing on Tuesday. According to Kottzieper, first quarter of 2011 will include more than 50 enhancements to Symbian, including an updated browser with a more intuitive user interface. The second and third quarter will bring “a new look and feel for the UI. The fourth quarter will introduce more powerful CPU and graphics processors and last but not least, a “true zoom camera.”
Nokia to Introduce New User Experience with MeeGo in 2011
Senior VP, Design & User Experience at Nokia, Marko Ahtisaari, spoke at the LeWeb conference today about the dominant patterns of interface and user experience in the smartphone industry. There’s the pattern used by iOS with just a screen full of apps and home button, and the pattern used by Symbian and Android. The introduction of Windows Phone 7 shows there’s demand for other patterns, and Nokia will introduce a new one with MeeGo in 2011. Video of the talk after the jump.
Meego Handset UI Guidelines Updated With Sample Customization Screenshots
The official Meego website has new screenshots in its UI design guidelines that show how operators and OEMs can customize the user experience. We’re not exactly sure which UI Nokia will use, but the photos give us an idea how it might look in their upcoming Meego device, the Nokia N9.
