Videos: Nokia Lumianation Lumia Launch Manila
Last Friday, Nokia Philippines formally launched the Nokia Lumia phones in Manila. The word, “launch” seemed strange because the Lumia 610, 710, and 800 have already been selling in the Philippines since April and the Lumia 900 won’t be available in the Philippines until next month. Nevertheless, the party was great and I shot some videos from my Nokia Lumia 800. Check it out.
Something Amazing Expected on May 18th
Nokia Philippines just sent emails to select media members teasing about the date, May 18th. It says, “Something Amazing is About to Happen.” The colorful tiles and the word, Amazing, clearly hints it is related to Nokia Lumia devices. I’m guessing it will be the launch event for the Nokia Lumia 900.
Video: Don’t Forget Birthdays with Social Birthday Tile
Social Birthday Tile uses your Facebook account to figure out which friends of yours have birthdays this week and show it on a live tile! In the app itself, you can go and post on your friend’s wall using message templates. You can see how it works on my Nokia Lumia 800.
Video: Create a Photo Collage with Super Camera on Windows Phone
Super Camera lets you create a photo collage on your Windows Phone. You can combine several photos and then share to Facebook, Twitter, Sina Weibo, and Tencent Weibo. This app was shown off to me by a Windows Phone user in the Philippines. I liked it too, so I had to install it on my Nokia Lumia 800. Here’s a demo on video
Skype 1.0 Released at Windows Phone Marketplace
Finally, Skype for Windows Phone is available in the Marketplace. It helps you connect with friends and family instantly with free voice and video calls everywhere you go. The beta was available in February, but we’re happy to report the release of the final version with some new features.

I’m missing out on all the fun happening in the US for the Nokia Lumia 900! I’m currently traveling with the wife in Southeast Asia and for the past week, we’ve been in a farm with almost no connectivity. I’m a little bummed after watching this video from the Times Square event last Friday. Check it out.
Demo: Creative Studio for Windows Phone
Creative Studio by Nokia was just released in the Windows Phone Marketplace. It lets you take photos with live special effects, edit existing photos and also an option for panorama. It’s absolutely free, so there’s no reason not to try it. I made a video to show you how it looks on my Nokia Lumia 800.
Demo: Google Search for Windows Phone Update
Google Search app for Windows Phone was just updated and I have a video to show you what’s new. You can now download the app at the marketplace. The latest version features autocomplete, voice search, and location. Video demo on the Nokia Lumia 800 after the jump.
Nokia 808 PureView Imaging Technologies Explained by Nokia’s Head of Imaging Experience
I can talk to Damian Dinning, Nokia’s head of imaging experience, about cameras for hours, but edited this video down to just 5 minutes. In this video, he talks about the PureView Technology that was introduced in the Nokia 808 PureView. PureView is the combination of high performance optics, high performance sensor, and Nokia industry-leading image processing algorithms.
