Amazon Web Services (AWS) started with a handful of foundational infrastructure services such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), and Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), so that anyone with an idea could start building. As the world’s largest companies and governments adopted AWS, they asked for features to optimize their configuration for a range of global business contexts, security requirements, and operational needs. To meet these needs, AWS expanded globally through new Regions and added breadth and depth of services in security, networking, governance, and cost controls, so those customers could operate wherever they needed and at the scale they require. That combination of global reach, breadth, and depth remains essential for those customers, but if you are at the start of a new idea, every configuration option is effort standing in the way of shipping your dream product fast.

Today, we’re announcing a new simplified experience on AWS for builders who are working at the pace of AI. Instead of having to complete configuration tasks before you can work on your project, you start with sensible defaults and simple administration. You sign up using an existing identity from providers including Google, GitHub, and Apple. For most new customers, no credit card is required to start and you receive $100 in free credits as part of the AWS Free Tier. You can build immediately in your first project. As you continue to work, you can invite collaborators with just an email address, without learning about AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) or AWS IAM Identity Center. When your project grows beyond the free credits, you can set a spend limit so you stay within your budget on the paid plan. If you grow to need additional customization, you can activate advanced AWS features to access the full breadth and depth of AWS without migrating.

How it works
When you sign up, AWS organizes your work in a project. A project contains an AWS account, where you create resources, and settings for sharing with team members. AWS creates that structure for you and applies additional security controls so you can start building your idea. After signing in, you get a prompt to paste into your coding agent that configures it to work with your new AWS environment. From there, your agent can deploy resources, run workloads, and iterate on your application following best practices for working with AWS.

You can create another project with a click. When you want to work with an additional team member, you send an invitation to their email address. Identity permissions are handled for you, so there are no IAM users to create; each person you invite only gets access to the projects you specify. Console workflows and coding agents also configure permissions between supported services and resources automatically, so you do not have to set up or troubleshoot resource permissions by hand.

Read moreHTML Element: select | Envato Tuts+

When you’re ready to move beyond free credits, you can upgrade to a paid plan by entering your payment method. You can set a monthly spend limit on a project based on your usage trends, starting at $20 per month. The spend limit is the ceiling for that project’s costs, and you pay for what you actually use up to that amount. For example, if you set a $50 spend limit and your project incurs $32 in charges that month, you pay $32 (plus taxes). AWS will suggest a spend limit based on your usage, and you can accept that recommendation or set a custom amount if you are planning to further scale your usage. If your project approaches the limit, you first receive notifications. If spend reaches the limit, AWS pauses your project rather than accumulating charges, and you can resume working on it when you raise the limit. Each project has its own spend limit so you can give a larger budget to a workload that is gaining traction while keeping a smaller budget on an experimental idea.

Let’s try it out
To get started, I went to aws.amazon.com and chose Create account. I signed in with my Google account and within seconds had a new project ready to go, as shown in the following screenshot.

I copied the prompt and pasted it into my agent. The agent set up the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) and the Agent Toolkit for AWS, logged me into AWS, and created a CLAUDE.md file in my project with guidance for the new experience.

The Setup Agent Toolkit for AWS dialog, with a prompt to copy and paste into your coding agent.

With the agent connected, I gave it a short prompt: build an API that returns a new unique sequential ID on every request. The agent created an AWS Lambda function, an Amazon DynamoDB table, and an Amazon API Gateway API, then deployed them for me. I did not have to configure resource permissions by hand. Within a few minutes I had a public endpoint that returned a newly minted ID on each request. My project started with $100 in free credits, and I received an additional $20 when the Lambda function was deployed.

Read moreGone Phishing | cPanel Blog

The coding agent confirms the API is live and lists the Amazon DynamoDB table, AWS Lambda function, and Amazon API Gateway API it deployed.

From the project, I could manage settings, invite team members by email, and monitor billing, as shown in the following screenshots.

The Billing page, showing a $0.00 balance on the free plan, remaining credits, and cost by project.

Activating advanced features
If you reach the point where you need multiple Regions, or governance features like custom policies in AWS Organizations, you can activate advanced features at no additional cost. You’ll find yourself in a fully configured AWS Organization built according to best practices, with no migration and no downtime. Everything you configured previously is preserved and reflected in the underlying AWS services.

Now rolling out
We’ve heard from builders that they do not want to spend their first hours configuring an AWS environment. They want to build what they came to build, and we listened. AWS began as a place where anyone with an idea could start building, and this new simplified experience brings that starting point back, with sensible defaults so you can begin immediately, and with the global reach, breadth, and depth of AWS still there when your idea needs it. We are gradually rolling this experience out to new customers. We cannot wait to see what you build, and we want your feedback on the experience.

To try the new experience, create a new AWS account. To learn more, see Sign up for AWS (new).

At AWS, a common question we hear is: “Which AWS capabilities are available in different Regions?” It’s a critical question whether you’re planning Regional expansion, ensuring compliance with data residency requirements, or architecting for disaster recovery.

Today, I’m excited to introduce AWS Capabilities by Region, a new planning tool that helps you discover and compare AWS services, features, APIs, and AWS CloudFormation resources across Regions. You can explore service availability through an interactive interface, compare multiple Regions side-by-side, and view forward-looking roadmap information. This detailed visibility helps you make informed decisions about global deployments and avoid project delays and costly rework.

Getting started with Regional comparison
To get started, go to AWS Builder Center and choose AWS Capabilities and Start Exploring. When you select Services and features, you can choose the AWS Regions you’re most interested in from the dropdown list. You can use the search box to quickly find specific services or features. For example, I chose US (N. Virginia), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Asia Pacific (Taipei) Regions to compare Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) features.

Read moreHTML Element: select | Envato Tuts+

Now I can view the availability of services and features in my chosen Regions and also see when they’re expected to be released. Select Show only common features to identify capabilities consistently available across all selected Regions, ensuring you design with services you can use everywhere.

The result will indicate availability using the following states: Available (live in the region); Planning (evaluating launch strategy); Not Expanding (will not launch in region); and 2026 Q1 (directional launch planning for the specified quarter).

In addition to exploring services and features, AWS Capabilities by Region also helps you explore available APIs and CloudFormation resources. As an example, to explore API operations, I added Europe (Stockholm) and Middle East (UAE) Regions to compare Amazon DynamoDB features across different geographies. The tool lets you view and search the availability of API operations in each Region.

Read moreSkipping the WHM Getting Started Wizard | cPanel Blog

The CloudFormation resources tab helps you verify Regional support for specific resource types before writing your templates. You can search by
Service
,
Type
,
Property
, and
Config.
For instance, when planning an Amazon API Gateway deployment, you can check the availability of resource types like
AWS::ApiGateway::Account
.

You can also search detailed resources such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance type availability, including specialized instances such as Graviton-based, GPU-enabled, and memory-optimized variants. For example, I searched 7th generation compute-optimized metal instances and could find
c7i.metal-24xl
and
c7i.metal-48xl
instances are available across all targeted Regions.

Today, we’re announcing LocalStack integration in the AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio Code that makes it easier than ever for developers to test and debug serverless applications locally. This enhancement builds upon our recent improvements to the AWS Lambda development experience, including the console to IDE integration and remote debugging capabilities we launched in July 2025, continuing our commitment to simplify serverless development on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

When building serverless applications, developers typically focus on three key areas to streamline their testing experience: unit testing, integration testing, and debugging resources running in the cloud. Although AWS Serverless Application Model Command Line Interface (AWS SAM CLI) provides excellent local unit testing capabilities for individual Lambda functions, developers working with event-driven architectures that involve multiple AWS services, such as Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), Amazon EventBridge, and Amazon DynamoDB, need a comprehensive solution for local integration testing. Although LocalStack provided local emulation of AWS services, developers had to previously manage it as a standalone tool, requiring complex configuration and frequent context switching between multiple interfaces, which slowed down the development cycle.

LocalStack integration in AWS Toolkit for VS Code
To address these challenges, we’re introducing LocalStack integration so developers can connect AWS Toolkit for VS Code directly to LocalStack endpoints. With this integration, developers can test and debug serverless applications without switching between tools or managing complex LocalStack setups. Developers can now emulate end-to-end event-driven workflows involving services such as Lambda, Amazon SQS, and EventBridge locally, without needing to manage multiple tools, perform complex endpoint configurations, or deal with service boundary issues that previously required connecting to cloud resources.

The key benefit of this integration is that AWS Toolkit for VS Code can now connect to custom endpoints such as LocalStack, something that wasn’t possible before. Previously, to point AWS Toolkit for VS Code to their LocalStack environment, developers had to perform manual configuration and context switching between tools.

Read moreHTML Element: select | Envato Tuts+

Getting started with LocalStack in VS Code is straightforward. Developers can begin with the LocalStack Free version, which provides local emulation for core AWS services ideal for early-stage development and testing. Using the guided application walkthrough in VS Code, developers can install LocalStack directly from the toolkit interface, which automatically installs the LocalStack extension and guides them through the setup process. When it’s configured, developers can deploy serverless applications directly to the emulated environment and test their functions locally, all without leaving their IDE.

Let’s try it out
First, I’ll update my copy of the AWS Toolkit for VS Code to the latest version. Once, I’ve done this, I can see a new option when I go to Application Builder and click on Walkthrough of Application Builder. This allows me to install LocalStack with a single click.

Once I’ve completed the setup for LocalStack, I can start it up from the status bar and then I’ll be able to select LocalStack from the list of my configured AWS profiles. In this illustration, I am using Application Composer to build a simple serverless architecture using Amazon API Gateway, Lambda, and DynamoDB. Normally, I’d deploy this to AWS using AWS SAM. In this case, I’m going to use the same AWS SAM command to deploy my stack locally.

Read moreSkipping the WHM Getting Started Wizard | cPanel Blog

I just do `sam deploy –guided –profile localstack` from the command line and follow the usual prompts. Deploying to LocalStack using AWS SAM CLI provides the exact same experience I’m used to when deploying to AWS. In the screenshot below, I can see the standard output from AWS SAM, as well as my new LocalStack resources listed in the AWS Toolkit Explorer.

I can even go in to a Lambda function and edit the function code I’ve deployed locally!

Read moreGone Phishing | cPanel Blog

Over on the LocalStack website, I can login and take a look at all the resources I have running locally. In the screenshot below, you can see the local DynamoDB table I just deployed.

Enhanced development workflow
These new capabilities complement our recently launched console-to-IDE integration and remote debugging features, creating a comprehensive development experience that addresses different testing needs throughout the development lifecycle. AWS SAM CLI provides excellent local testing for individual Lambda functions, handling unit testing scenarios effectively. For integration testing, the LocalStack integration enables testing of multiservice workflows locally without the complexity of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) permissions, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) configurations, or service boundary issues that can slow down development velocity.

When developers need to test using AWS services in development environments, they can use our remote debugging capabilities, which provide full access to Amazon VPC resources and IAM roles. This tiered approach frees up developers to focus on business logic during early development phases using LocalStack, then seamlessly transition to cloud-based testing when they need to validate against AWS service behaviors and configurations. The integration eliminates the need to switch between multiple tools and environments, so developers can identify and fix issues faster while maintaining the flexibility to choose the right testing approach for their specific needs.

Now available
You can start using these new features through the AWS Toolkit for VS Code by updating to v3.74.0. The LocalStack integration is available in all commercial AWS Regions except AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. To learn more, visit the AWS Toolkit for VS Code and Lambda documentation.

For developers who need broader service coverage or advanced capabilities, LocalStack offers additional tiers with expanded features. There are no additional costs from AWS for using this integration.

These enhancements represent another significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to simplifying the serverless development experience. Over the past year, we’ve focused on making VS Code the tool of choice for serverless developers, and this LocalStack integration continues that journey by providing tools for developers to build and test serverless applications more efficiently than ever before.

My LinkedIn feed was absolutely packed this week with pictures from the AWS Heroes Summit event in Seattle. It was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces and new Heroes coming together.

For those not familiar with the AWS Heroes program, it’s a global community recognition initiative that honors individuals who make outstanding contributions to the AWS community. These Heroes share their deep AWS knowledge through content creation, speaking at events, organizing community gatherings, and contributing to open-source projects.

The AWS Heroes Summit brings these exceptional community leaders together, providing a unique platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration. As someone who regularly interacts with Heroes through our AWS initiatives, I always find these summits invaluable – they offer deep technical discussions, early access to AWS roadmaps, and opportunities to provide direct feedback to AWS service teams. The insights and connections made at these events often translate into better resources and guidance for the broader AWS community.

Read moreHTML Element: select | Envato Tuts+

Last week’s launches

In addition to this inspiring community, here are some AWS launches that caught my attention:

AWS expands Internet Protocol v6 (IPv6) support to AWS App Runner, AWS Client VPN, and RDS Data API — Three more AWS services now support IPv6 connectivity, helping you meet compliance requirements and removes the need for handling address translation between IPv4 and IPv6. AWS App Runner now supports IPv6-based inbound and outbound traffic on both public and private App Runner service endpoints. AWS Client VPN announced support for remote access to IPv6 workloads, allowing you to establish secure VPN connections to your IPv6-enabled VPC resources. Finally, RDS Data API now supports IPv6, enabling dual-stack configuration (IPv4 and IPv6) connectivity for your Aurora databases.

We launched two new instance families this week: the new storage-optimized I8ge and the general-purpose M8i instances —Our I8ge instances, powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, deliver up to 60% better compute performance compared to their Graviton2-based predecessors. These instances feature third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs, providing up to 55% better real-time storage performance per TB and significantly lower I/O latency. With 120 TB of storage and sizes up to 48xlarge (including two metal options), they offer the highest storage density among AWS Graviton-based storage optimized instances. We also launched M8i and M8i-flex instances with custom Intel Xeon 6 processors. These instances deliver up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth than their predecessors. M8i-flex instances are ideal for general-purpose workloads, available from large to 16xlarge. For demanding applications, you can choose from our SAP-certified M8i instances in 13 sizes, including 2 bare metal options and a new 96xlarge size.

Amazon EC2 Mac Dedicated hosts now support Host Recovery and Reboot-based host maintenance — you can enable two new capabilities for your EC2 Mac Dedicated Hosts: Host Recovery and Reboot-based Host Maintenance. Host Recovery automatically detects potential hardware issues on Mac Dedicated Hosts and seamlessly migrates Mac instances to a new replacement host, minimizing disruption to workloads. Reboot-based Host Maintenance automatically stops and restarts instances on replacement hosts when scheduled maintenance events occur, eliminating the need for manual intervention during planned maintenance windows.

Amazon Q Developer now supports MCP admin control — Administrators have now the ability to enable or disable the MCP functionality for all the Q Developer clients in their organization. When an administrator disables the functionality, users will not be allowed to add any MCP servers, nor will any previously defined servers be initialized.

Other AWS news

Here are some additional projects and blog posts that you might find interesting:

Mastering Amazon Q Developer with Rules — I read an interesting article about Amazon Q Developer’s rules feature this weekend that I want to share with you. What caught my attention is how it solves a pain point I often encounter when working with AI assistants – having to repeatedly explain my coding preferences and standards. With rules, you define your preferences once in Markdown files, and Amazon Q Developer automatically follows them for every interaction. I particularly like how transparent the system is, showing which rules it’s following, and how it helps maintain consistency across teams. Since implementing rules in my projects, I’ve seen more consistent code quality, all while reducing the cognitive load of having to repeatedly explain our standards.

Strategies for excelling across all four exam domains of the AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty certification. The AWS Training & Certification team, where I spent my first three years at AWS, shared how to prepare for the AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty certification, whether you’re starting from scratch or building upon existing AWS Certifications. They share the prerequisites and guidance to help you get ready for this certification and demonstrate your expertise in building ML solutions with AWS.

As is now our tradition after Prime Day, we shared the impressive metrics showing how AWS services scaled to support one of the world’s largest shopping events. Amazon Prime Day 2025 was the biggest ever, setting records for both sales volume and total items sold during the 4-day event. This year was particularly special as we saw a significant transformation in the Prime Day experience through advancements in our generative AI offerings, with customers using Alexa+, Rufus, and AI Shopping Guides to discover deals and get product information. The numbers are staggering – Amazon DynamoDB handled tens of trillions of API calls while maintaining high availability, delivering single-digit millisecond responses and peaking at 151 million requests per second. Amazon API Gateway processed over 1 trillion internal service requests—a 30 percent increase in requests on average per day compared to Prime Day 2024.

Today, we’re announcing exportable public SSL/TLS certificates from AWS Certificate Manager (ACM). Prior to this launch, you can issue your public certificates or import certificates issued by third-party certificate authorities (CAs) at no additional cost, and deploy them with integrated AWS services such as Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), Amazon CloudFront distribution, and Amazon API Gateway.

Now you can export public certificates from ACM, get access to the private keys, and use them on any workloads running on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, containers, or on-premises hosts. The exportable public certificate are valid for 395 days. There is a charge at time of issuance, and again at time of renewal. Public certificates exported from ACM are issued by Amazon Trust Services and are widely trusted by commonly used platforms such as Apple and Microsoft and popular web browsers such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

ACM exportable public certificates in action
To export a public certificate, you first request a new exportable public certificate. You cannot export previously created public certificates.

To get started, choose Request certificate in the ACM console and choose Enable export in the Allow export section. If you select Disable export, the private key for this certificate will be disallowed for exporting from ACM and this cannot be changed after certificate issuance.

Read moreHTML Element: select | Envato Tuts+

You can also use the
request-certificate
command to request a public exportable certificate with
Export=ENABLED
option on the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI).

aws acm request-certificate
--domain-name mydomain.com
--key-algorithm EC_Prime256v1
--validation-method DNS
--idempotency-token <token>
--options
CertificateTransparencyLoggingPreference=DISABLED
Export=ENABLED

After you request the public certificate, you must validate your domain name to prove that you own or control the domain for which you are requesting the certificate. The certificate is typically issued within seconds after successful domain validation.

When the certificate enters status Issued, you can export your issued public certificate by choosing Export.

Read moreSkipping the WHM Getting Started Wizard | cPanel Blog

Enter a passphrase for encrypting the private key. You will need the passphrase later to decrypt the private key. To get the public key, Choose Generate PEM Encoding.

You can copy the PEM encoded certificate, certificate chain, and private key or download each to a separate file.

Read moreGone Phishing | cPanel Blog

You can use the
export-certificate
command to export a public certificate and private key. For added security, use a file editor to store your passphrase and output keys to a file to prevent being stored in the command history.

aws acm export-certificate
     --certificate-arn arn:aws:acm:us-east-1:<accountID>:certificate/<certificateID>
     --passphrase fileb://path-to-passphrase-file
     | jq -r '"(.Certificate)(.CertificateChain)(.PrivateKey)"'
     > /tmp/export.txt

You can now use the exported public certificates for any workload that requires SSL/TLS communication such as Amazon EC2 instances. To learn more, visit Configure SSL/TLS on Amazon Linux in your EC2 instances.

Things to know
Here are a couple of things to know about exportable public certificates:

Key security – An administrator of your organization can set AWS IAM policies to authorize roles and users who can request exportable public certificates. ACM users who have current rights to issue a certificate will automatically get rights to issue an exportable certificate. ACM admins can also manage the certificates and take actions such as revoking or deleting the certificates. You should protect exported private keys using secure storage and access controls.

Revocation – You may need to revoke exportable public certificates to comply with your organization’s policies or mitigate key compromise. You can only revoke the certificates that were previously exported. The certificate revocation process is global and permanent. Once revoked, you can’t retrieve revoked certificates to reuse. To learn more, visit Revoke a public certificate in the AWS documentation.

Renewal – You can configure automatic renewal events for exportable public certificates by Amazon EventBridge to monitor certificate renewals and create automation to handle certificate deployment when renewals occur. To learn more, visit Using Amazon EventBridge in the AWS documentation. You can also renew these certificates on-demand. When you renew the certificates, you’re charged for a new certificate issuance. To learn more, visit Force certificate renewal in the AWS documentation.

Now available
You can now issue exportable public certificates from ACM and export the certificate with the private keys to use other compute workloads as well as ELB, Amazon CloudFront, and Amazon API Gateway.

You are subject to additional charges for an exportable public certificate when you create it with ACM. It costs $15 per fully qualified domain name and $149 per wildcard domain name. You only pay once during the lifetime of the certificate and will be charged again only when the certificate renews. To learn more, visit the AWS Certificate Manager Service Pricing page.

Give ACM exportable public certificates a try in the ACM console. To learn more, visit the ACM Documentation page and send feedback to AWS re:Post for ACM or through your usual AWS Support contacts.

Today, we are launching IPv6 support for Amazon API Gateway across all endpoint types, custom domains, and management APIs, in all commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. You can now configure REST, HTTP, and WebSocket APIs, and custom domains, to accept calls from IPv6 clients alongside the existing IPv4 support. You can also call API Gateway management APIs from dual-stack (IPv6 and IPv4) clients. As organizations globally confront growing IPv4 address scarcity and increasing costs, implementing IPv6 becomes critical for future-proofing network infrastructure. This dual-stack approach helps organizations maintain future network compatibility and expand global reach. To learn more about dualstack in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment, see the IPv6 on AWS Documentation.

Creating new dual-stack resources

This post focuses on two ways to create an API or a domain name with a dualstack IP address type: AWS Management Console and AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).

AWS Console

Read moreHTML Element: select | Envato Tuts+

When creating a new API or domain name in the console, select IPv4 only or dualstack (IPv4 and IPv6) for the IP address type.

As shown in the following image, you can select the dualstack option when creating a new REST API.For custom domain names, you can similarly configure dualstack as shown in the next image.

If you need to revert to IPv4-only for any reason, you can modify the IP address type setting, with no need to redeploy your API for the update to take effect.

REST APIs of all endpoint types (EDGE, REGIONAL and PRIVATE) support dualstack. Private REST APIs only support dualstack configuration.

Read moreSkipping the WHM Getting Started Wizard | cPanel Blog

AWS CDK

With AWS CDK, start by configuring a dual-stack REST API and domain name.

const api = new apigateway.RestApi(this, "Api", {
  restApiName: "MyDualStackAPI",
  endpointConfiguration: {ipAddressType: "dualstack"}
});

const domain_name = new apigateway.DomainName(this, "DomainName", {
  regionalCertificateArn: 'arn:aws:acm:us-east-1:111122223333:certificate/a1b2c3d4-5678-90ab',
  domainName: 'dualstack.example.com',
  endpointConfiguration: {
    types: ['Regional'],
    ipAddressType: 'dualstack'
  },
  securityPolicy: 'TLS_1_2'
});

const basepathmapping = new apigateway.BasePathMapping(this, "BasePathMapping", {
  domainName: domain_name,
  restApi: api
});

IPv6 Source IP and authorization

When your API begins receiving IPv6 traffic, client source IPs will be in IPv6 format. If you use resource policies, Lambda authorizers, or AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies that reference source IP addresses, make sure they’re updated to accommodate IPv6 address formats.

Read moreGone Phishing | cPanel Blog

For example, to permit traffic from a specific IPv6 range in a resource policy.

{
  "Version": "2012-10-17",
  "Statement": [
    {
      "Effect": "Allow",
      "Principal": "*",
      "Action": "execute-api:Invoke",
      "Resource": "execute-api:stage-name/*",
      "Condition": {
        "IpAddress": {
          "aws:SourceIp": [
            "192.0.2.0/24",
            "2001:db8:1234::/48"
          ]
        }
      }
    }
  ]
}

Summary

API Gateway dual-stack support helps manage IPv4 address scarcity and costs, comply with government and industry mandates, and prepare for the future of networking. The dualstack implementation provides a smooth transition path by supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 clients simultaneously.

To get started with API Gateway dual-stack support, visit the Amazon API Gateway documentation. You can configure dualstack for new APIs or update existing APIs with minimal configuration changes.
