How To: Update Nokia N73 Firmware to Internet Edition

The Nokia N73 Internet Edition Firmware 3.0638.0.0.43 update is now available. The Nokia N73 Internet Edition was only announced in Taiwan and Hong Kong, but anyone with the N73 can change their firmware to take advantage of the new firmware’s features by tricking Nokia Software Update. How is the Internet Edition different from the recently released Music Edition? Find out now as well as the instructions on how to update your Nokia N73 firmware.

The Nokia N73 Internet Edition contains all of the features of the Music Edition, but the multimedia key in the Music Edition goes straight to the music player. The Internet Edition retains the function of the original multimedia key where you can configure your own shortcuts to applications. They also included Windows Live Messenger and a few shortcuts to popular websites in the Internet folder. Otherwise, same as the Music Edition.

Updating to the Internet Edition is similar to the guide I wrote earlier on updating to Nokia N73 Music Edition.

Download and install: Nemesis Service Suite and the latest Nokia Software Update.

Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
Click on the icon “Phone info”
Click on “Scan”
UPDATE Change the product code to
0539366 (Hong Kong’s language pack: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese)
0539364 (Taiwan’s language pack: English + Traditional Chinese)
0539295 (Arabic, French, English) (People say it is ME edition)
0539269 (Swedish, Norwegian, English) (People say it is ME edition)
Mark the case “Enable”.
Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be the Nokia N73 Internet Edition!

You may also want to change for black Nokia N73 faceplate housing to black to make it look more like the real Nokia N73 Internet or Music Edition. You can read more about how to change the Nokia N73 faceplate guide that I wrote previously.

0548884 is product code for the N73 Internet Edition (no branding, directly from nokia uk) with English, French, German, Turkish, Italian and Dutch language support.

The music player is automatically started if you turn on your phone but you easily can exit the player.
1. press the menu button for 2 seconds
2. select the music player
3. press options
4. scroll down to "Exit"

Dear All,

I just upgraded my regular N73-5(rm-132) to N73 Internet Edition. For those of you who changed the product code through NSS, then tried to update with NSU; in many of the cases got the "No Updates Available".

At first I thought to myself that Nokia had a way to prevent our scam from working... but then, I realized that it would be impossible to upgrade the regular N73(rm-132), by just changing the product code, without changing the firmware!

So, I replaced the rm-132 firmware to rm-133; by using Phoenix Software and the rm-133 f/w. Then I changed the product code to Hong Kong code; used the NSU... It finally worked

It takes a while but you must be patient. I also worked out a solution for the NSS scan problem. The new versions of Nokia PC Suite and NSU the will block and prevent NSS from scanning your phone.

Well, N73 Internet Edition is much better than the regular and Music Edition versions. Sound is better and you get to keep the shortcut icon customizable.

And for those who complained about the font.. huahauhahuah that's just a unicode type of font nothing rough or ugly to it!

i had change a few n73 and n95 for friends, main reason changing is because of the language for the hand set,today i come across a n73 lock to vodafone au. and manage change the produce code to 0539366 no problem,but when i ran the nsu, the nsu went thou all 3 steps and come back with a report of my fone's firmware is up-today (no change),is the phone has to unlock first? if this is the case, do i need to change the produce code back to factory set before unlocking the handset? i be much appreciated for a quick respond to these matters.

hiya every 1 plz help me out I have a problem using NSS.

I keep getting an error. The error is displayed in the lower left corner and says " Scan for product….Error!"

Also, when I initially connect the phone and press "scan for new device" the "device info" page displays that’s everything is found except the last item - ->Products Dir('products').......Not Found.

I am using the latest available version of NSS and have already tried uninstalling all Nokia software and drivers and reinstalling it all again.

Any advice/thoughts/ideas are much appreciated. Thank you all.

i just got my n73 from nokia care for 11 days and they didn't able to fix it they say that the problem is on the board of the phone and its not practical to replace it and replacing it cost half of my brand new phone. I can't believe they don't actually know what to do to this kind of problem it is their product why don't they have any solution for it why do they made NSU when it is unsafe and very risky? one single move could destroy your phone? my God! yah right! my phone got killed forever! and this could happen to YOU anyone of you reading this. so the next time you update your phone software be sure to think a hundred times before you do it. I am able to change the product code to the internet edition code with no problems...however when i run the NSU it says my phone is up to date, and so it doesn't work for me. Is there any way around this?
