How To: Update Firmware, Debranding, and/or Change Language Pack on the Nokia N95
Updating your Nokia N95 to the latest firmware, debranding, and/or changing the language pack is similar to the guide I wrote earlier on updating to Nokia N73 Music Edition. If you are a new Nokia N95 owner, this might be helpful to you, especially those with missing features.
Download and install: Nemesis Service Suite and the latest Nokia Software Update.
- Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
- Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
- Click on the icon “Phone info”
- Click on “Scan”
- Change the product code to the one you want from the list below.
- Mark the case “Enable”.
- Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
- Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
- Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
- That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be upgraded!

oZ what E61i code do you need? I have 28 euro codes for the E61i. I want to go to EURO E1 but I have the same problem than neopod, each time I connect the NSS I got the scan error. The E61i is not recongnized.

Hi. I ‘ve debranded my phone with new language pack. I’ve also upgraded the firmware. Everything is working fine, except the camera. The photos which I previously taken appear quite dark on the gallery. When I take a photo, the photo also looks dark on the screen but as long as I press OPtion, you can see it lighten up. If I transfer the image to PC, the image also looks brighter. Has anyone had similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Valmore: Same problem, actually. I hadn’t tried plugging it into NSS yet. Funny thing that it works with the N95, worked with my old 6682, works with the 6133, but simply can’t detect the E61i.

Hi! Thanks for this… It;s worked a treat getting Hungarian on my wife’s phone. I do have one question though… Since chaning the product code, the function of the upper right hand button on the Home Screen has changed from “Contacts” to “clock”. Is there any way this can be put back to “Contacts” as this would be much more useful than the clock options!

I also assume that the APAC (Asia PACific?) codes are unbranded ? Which languages do they have and is one meant for Plum and the other for Sand ? What differences do they have ?
Finally does the above procedure allow you to cross-grade ? Ie if I have already upgraded does that mean I am stuck until the next release ?

Hey I have the N95 Locked on Orange.
I have installed NNS succesfully and a balloon appears on the bottom left of my desktop confirming the N95 is fully installed and connected via USB, but when I search for the phone under ‘new device’ on Nemesis, nothing happens. I click the button and it remains pressed for a few seconds and returns to how it was. *Confused*

I have one from 3 Australia (sand) bought on 25 June. It has product code 0547466 and its languages are English, Indonesian, Pilipino (that’s the spelling they used, not Tagalog).
It took me a lot of searching to find out where to find the product code. It is on the white sticker behind the battery.
It won’t take the 12 firmware as 3 has not yet approved it.

Also I think I read that if you have the latest firmware, then you are stuck and can’t switch languages. If this is true, then is there a way to ‘downgrade’ to a previous version… and then ‘re-upgrade’? Thanks to anyone who can answer either of these questions!

tou com um problema, o firmware como disse no outro post foi actualizado mas qd recupero os dados que tinha instalados há uma aplicação qualquer que gera um erro e o telefone deixa de ter “ambiente de trabalho”.
Há alguma maneira de gerir a cópia de segurança pra retirar as aplicações e verificar assim qual está a gerar esse erro?

Thnx 4 this. My N95 was branded to Orange UK on their odd product code (which I had tried to update several times and it told me the current update was ver. 11.0.26).
I changed the product code to their specific one (0548170) using NSS and then updated the software (again no new update but I did it anyway).
I then changed the product code away from theirs to the EURO1 code and updated. Hey presto, the ver. 12.0.13 update is suddenly available along with every good piece of software Orange in their twisted minds decided to take out.

i have a plum orange and kept having the NSU losing the usb connection during the update and asing to replace battery and retry again and again. finally tried product code 0536062 and that did the trick, so glad to get rid of orange firmware! hope that helps others as i see many having the same prob, try find the rite prod code seems to work then.

ok i wudnt recomend restoring a backup into previously orange branded n95 thats just had firmware upgraded as it messes things up, probably sum compatibilty issues with orange version. better to transfer sync contacts wiv outlook and put it back that way. and it seems wiv the orange handsets u just have to keep removing the battery and replacing it until NSU finally decides to detect it, but its worth the patience trust me. its like having a brand new fone, doesnt take forever to play videos!

I have a brandnew N95 on orange UK. I follow the above steps and used the euro1-sand code. I then managed to update to the latest firmware, no problems, which reinstates VOIP and some other great stuff. The new phone data transfer is great, let me transfer contacts, calendar, sms etc from my 6630, something I couldn’t do before this update.
However, I’ve lost the side menu (orange homescreen). I realise most of you hate this (just google it!) but I like the left side menu and shortcuts.
Anyone know of an alternative?

i have a problem, i tried to de-brand my o2 n95, i live in uk, i did it with code no’s: 0536062..but, i made a mistake, i put this number in the “prod serial number” box in Nemesis by mistake though, it upgraded fine and completed ok, but o2 crap on screen is still there! when i go into Nemesis now, the product serial number has not been changed. I then put the code into the right box this time, but it doesnt upgrade as before it just says repairing when i open nokia sofware updater, any ideas folks pleeeeeeze

If you’re having problems updating your phone’s firmware (n95) in my case with NSU reporting “connected phone was not recognized” try DOWNGRADING NSU. I was running the lastest version 1.4.3 or something and it didn’t work but 1.4.0 works a treat.

Thanks Xenocide but my problem is solved and it was because of Vista. There’s no need of even choosing an option when using XP. You plug it in and NSS picks it before you select an option.

Try it with another PC. I did so. It works. Just make sure it’s a clean(I mean without problems) XP SP2 installation.

spyros: Try to uninstall the Nokia Connectivity Driver and install an earlier one like this one:

I spent nearly 3 hours with the same problem as you have before I found out about this solution. Nokia isn’t that interested in us changing the product codes and so on, so they have blocked NSS in their latest drivers
Anyway, this solution worked like a charm for me (I uninstalled the PC-suite as well, but I don’t know whether that is necessary, the Connectivity Driver might be enough!)

procke what version of the nss were you using as i am having the same problems, i have uninstalled the nokia pc suite and installed the driver from your link and still no joy!! help please im stuck on the orange firmware!

Adam, i had the same problem, but you can ignore the first page in nss. just make sure your phone is connected properly, check windows devise manager if there are any errors relating nokia.
go to the phone info page in NSS and press scan (under actions)
what helpt me was installing an older driver mentioned by procke on 14 April 2008

also, reboot your pc, reboot your phone, thats VERY helpfull most of the time, and ignore the first page in nss (about Not Found and shit

i have nokia n91 with original product code for china i.e.0535243 and i then changed it to some other product key but happened to be language unknown to me.
now i again changed my product code back to CHINA’s product key.
but i can’t use NSU. it sayz me that my firmware is latest…… 2.20 and so can’t update.
any help. please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
