oZ what E61i code do you need? I have 28 euro codes for the E61i. I want to go to EURO E1 but I have the same problem than neopod, each time I connect the NSS I got the scan error. The E61i is not recongnized.

Hi. I ‘ve debranded my phone with new language pack. I’ve also upgraded the firmware. Everything is working fine, except the camera. The photos which I previously taken appear quite dark on the gallery. When I take a photo, the photo also looks dark on the screen but as long as I press OPtion, you can see it lighten up. If I transfer the image to PC, the image also looks brighter. Has anyone had similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Valmore: Same problem, actually. I hadn’t tried plugging it into NSS yet. Funny thing that it works with the N95, worked with my old 6682, works with the 6133, but simply can’t detect the E61i.

I do have one question though… Since chaning the product code, the function of the upper right hand button on the Home Screen has changed from “Contacts” to “clock”. Is there any way this can be put back to “Contacts” as this would be much more useful than the clock options!

Hey I have the N95 Locked on Orange.

I have installed NNS succesfully and a balloon appears on the bottom left of my desktop confirming the N95 is fully installed and connected via USB, but when I search for the phone under ‘new device’ on Nemesis, nothing happens. I click the button and it remains pressed for a few seconds and returns to how it was. *Confused*

I have one from 3 Australia (sand) bought on 25 June. It has product code 0547466 and its languages are English, Indonesian, Pilipino (that’s the spelling they used, not Tagalog).

It took me a lot of searching to find out where to find the product code. It is on the white sticker behind the battery.

It won’t take the 12 firmware as 3 has not yet approved it.

Do the codes in the article also apply to a phone such as the 6682? I need to install Thai language on there. Also I think I read that if you have the latest firmware, then you are stuck and can’t switch languages. If this is true, then is there a way to ‘downgrade’ to a previous version… and then ‘re-upgrade’? Thanks to anyone who can answer either of these questions!

Thnx 4 this. My N95 was branded to Orange UK on their odd product code (which I had tried to update several times and it told me the current update was ver. 11.0.26).
I changed the product code to their specific one (0548170) using NSS and then updated the software (again no new update but I did it anyway).
I then changed the product code away from theirs to the EURO1 code and updated. Hey presto, the ver. 12.0.13 update is suddenly available along with every good piece of software Orange in their twisted minds decided to take out.

i have a plum orange and kept having the NSU losing the usb connection during the update and asing to replace battery and retry again and again. finally tried product code 0536062 and that did the trick, so glad to get rid of orange firmware! hope that helps others as i see many having the same prob, try find the rite prod code seems to work then.

ok i wudnt recomend restoring a backup into previously orange branded n95 thats just had firmware upgraded as it messes things up, probably sum compatibilty issues with orange version. better to transfer sync contacts wiv outlook and put it back that way. and it seems wiv the orange handsets u just have to keep removing the battery and replacing it until NSU finally decides to detect it, but its worth the patience trust me. its like having a brand new fone, doesnt take forever to play videos!

I have a brandnew N95 on orange UK. I follow the above steps and used the euro1-sand code. I then managed to update to the latest firmware, no problems, which reinstates VOIP and some other great stuff. The new phone data transfer is great, let me transfer contacts, calendar, sms etc from my 6630, something I couldn’t do before this update.
However, I’ve lost the side menu (orange homescreen). I realise most of you hate this (just google it!) but I like the left side menu and shortcuts.
Anyone know of an alternative?

Just changed my product code to Euro1. Seetings have been svaed as Euro 1 code comes back when i press read on NSS.

Nokia Softward update recognises phone and realises that i have v12 firmware and that v20 firmware is needed however the update button is greyed out.

Hi, I have set the product code for mz 6300 to EURO1 with the Nemesis service. When I then try to update the phone with the Nokia updater, I am told that there is no update available. And the phone language is still the old one. Anyone have any ideas?

i have a problem, i tried to de-brand my o2 n95, i live in uk, i did it with code no’s: 0536062..but, i made a mistake, i put this number in the “prod serial number” box in Nemesis by mistake though, it upgraded fine and completed ok, but o2 crap on screen is still there! when i go into Nemesis now, the product serial number has not been changed. I then put the code into the right box this time, but it doesnt upgrade as before it just says repairing when i open nokia sofware updater, any ideas folks pleeeeeeze

Thanks Xenocide but my problem is solved and it was because of Vista. There’s no need of even choosing an option when using XP. You plug it in and NSS picks it before you select an option.

Try it with another PC. I did so. It works. Just make sure it’s a clean(I mean without problems) XP SP2 installation.

I spent nearly 3 hours with the same problem as you have before I found out about this solution. Nokia isn’t that interested in us changing the product codes and so on, so they have blocked NSS in their latest drivers
Anyway, this solution worked like a charm for me (I uninstalled the PC-suite as well, but I don’t know whether that is necessary, the Connectivity Driver might be enough!)

Oh! I forgot to mention that this worked under Windows Vista Buisness…

procke what version of the nss were you using as i am having the same problems, i have uninstalled the nokia pc suite and installed the driver from your link and still no joy!! help please im stuck on the orange firmware!

Adam, i had the same problem, but you can ignore the first page in nss. just make sure your phone is connected properly, check windows devise manager if there are any errors relating nokia.

go to the phone info page in NSS and press scan (under actions)

what helpt me was installing an older driver mentioned by procke on 14 April 2008

i have nokia n91 with original product code for china i.e.0535243 and i then changed it to some other product key but happened to be language unknown to me.
now i again changed my product code back to CHINA’s product key.
but i can’t use NSU. it sayz me that my firmware is latest…… 2.20 and so can’t update.

Hi.. Nokia n95 silver/plum in the u.k english.. I used code 0536062 euro1-plum changed it useing the program NEMESIS SERVICE SUITE then used NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER. lovely got rid of the operator logos and all there rubbish. my phone is now unbranded looks good and working perfect. BE CAREFULL WHEN DOING THIS AND READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING.
DONT KNOW IF THIS CODE WILL WORK ON THE 8GB black version maybe someone can tell us.

Thanks a lot for the instructions here! I bought a N95 with English & Chinese and was told it’s a Hong Kong version. I suspected it as the manual I got is just Vietnamese. When I updated the firmware, it went back to English & Vietnamese! I was so pissed. A Google search leads me to this great place! With NSS, I first tried 0536085: Apac 1. It gave me English, Chinese, and Malayu. Not what I wanted. So I did it again with 0536084: Hong Kong. Now I got English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Things work out nicely.

One thing that I’m curious: after I changed the product code, unless I change it again, all my future firmware update should get to to the same language pack. Is it correct? If that’s the case, looks like the dealer who sold me the phone updated the language pack without changing product code.

got exactly the same problem as thebigguy, so I thought I was saved, but Nokia uploader tells me there is no upgrade available after I changed the code in NNS. The problem is NNS gives me an error message after I close it (smth like memory address problem (I have it in french) with strange number saying that the memory cannot be “read”. Could that mean that my phone code has not been changed ?
Did anyone get the same problem ?

petri, Nokia updater told me the same thing – no update available. But I chose to update anyway. And it worked.

After you use NNS to change product code, you can try to use “Read” in NNS to retrieve the value — so you know if it’s changed.

you’re right, when I check in NSS the code is the good one.

But the NSU does not allow me to update, there is no “next” or “update” button, there’s just “try again” and “cancel”, so how did you force NSU to update ?

petri, I don’t remember the exact wording, but when I run update, it says something like “you have the latest firmware, you don’t have to update ” (not sure if it says “do you want to update anyway”?)… But the 2 buttons available, one is “update anyway” (or something like that, the other one is “cancel”.

NOTE: To start updating, you have to check a box to acknowledge the term and condition. I did update quite a few times (to Vietnamese version first, then APAC, then the Hong Kong firmware), it always fooled me to think that it didn’t allow me to do up until I saw the check box.

If above is not your case, question to ask you is: have you ever been able to do an update? Sounded like you did. In the very beginning, I tried many times, but update never got started. Always got to the “Recover” screen, or “Try again”. Then I called Nokia. They told me I have to turn off firewall and re-install the updater and PC Suit. So I did and my updates started working.

I reinstalled the latest updater v1.4.39en, installed the latest PC Suite. But still cannot update, I get no “update anyway” button, just “try again” or “cancel”. It says I have la latest update available 20.0.16 which is the firmware version of the phillipino code 05576637. The latest number for hongkong beeing 0536084. And that’s the number NSS gives me when I “read” it….

petri, were you every able to successfully do an update? Now it seems to me you weren’t. 20.0.16 is NOT the latest firmware. 21.0.16 is.

I bought my phone early May 2008, my firmware was 20.0.16. Like I mentioned above, initially when I ran Updater, it told me newer version 21.0.16 was available. But I failed many (at least 5 – 10) times trying to update (this was before I changed the product code). When it was failing, if I remember correctly, I got 2 different scenarios: one asked me to do a “Recovery” procedure (remove battery, etc); the other is “Try again” or “Cancel”. So now I think you haven’t got the Updater working for you.

The only strange thing to me is, why it tells you 20.0.16 is the latest firmware.

I’d suggest you do the following:
1. (if you haven’t done so) – un-install and re-install PC Suit/Updater with firewall turned off.
2. Connect your phone to PC, in PC Suit mode.
3. Start PC Suit. Run Updater from PC Suit, instead of run Updater directly. — I might be wrong, but I think I had problem running Updater directly. Since my first successful update was running Updater from PC Suit menu, I did all my subsequent update the same way and I don’t have any problem any more.

So I put the right Hong Kong code (0557980) for the 8GB, and I got the “update anyway” button. Everything worked fine….

I have Nokia N91, locked on Vodafone. I have tried everything, and it worked. But after I have updated software nothing happened. It keeps saying “SIM card is not valid”. However, when i check the product code via NSS, it says 0523183 which I had entered. Anyone experiences the same trouble?

Tina, have you ever been able to update? If not, try to un-install the updater, turn off your Windows firewall, then re-install updater.

Updater didn’t work for me either even though I tried many different things. Then I called Nokia support and was told to turn off firewall. Then it started to work like a charm.

Upgraded my n95-1 using this method. Works like a charm.
A couple of caveats though:
1/. The NSS software doesn’t work using Windows in a VMWare Fusion virtual machine.

2/. If you are going from an early firmware like the T-Mobile V14 I was to V30 then *don’t* restore your backup to the phone!!
You won’t be able to start the phone properly if you do.
However if you’re already done this and get the “Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer” message on screen you can restore to factory defaults like this:
-Power off the phone
-Power On the phone whilst holding down
Green button * 3 & *

It’ll start up then reset and power up with factory defaults again.

Product codes have to match when restoring.
If you take another backup after changing product code you can then restore no problem.

When u done NSS, waiting there display ready before u close the NSS. Go to nokia web site in ” Can I update ” to double confirm the version when u done NSS country code.

This is great, but I’d like to see product codes for my brand spanking new(Nokia Sealed box) 6220 classic which I got in the mail today which happens to not have Swedish for some reason even though I ordered from a Swedish site. Changing language should be easier than having to hack a perfectly good phone(and saying good bye to warrenty).

just press the key with up arrow + the character key ( Chr )at the right bottom side and u will see the available lang

Managed to follow it to download APAC on my Nokia 6120c – after I found the correct Product Code and realised there was a later firmware version (the one on my phone was already up to date). There was a small glitch afterwards, which was when the phone told me it could not start and had to contact my retailer. just disable nokia pc suite in start up, reload your pc and run NSS. if you don't know how to do it, uninstall nokia pc suit at all, reload pc than run the NSS change the product code of your phone, and after install nokia pc suit and follow the next steps.

yeah the same problem struck me once i changed my product code. Now when im trying to navigate to a different product code so that i might get the latest firmware upgrade, the NSS says “ERROR”!!!! help us plzzzzzzzzzzz

I have N96. By mistake I entered wrong product code (turkish language instead of baltic) and upgraded the phone to the next version. When I fix my mistake and entered the correct code the NSU didn't want to upgrade, because baltic version is lower than mine! (First I had 30.033, than turkish updated to 30.101, but the newest baltic version is 30.033). What to do?? To rollback the version? Seems like impossible. To install languages separately? Please help.

Sorry for so late answer my friend, so I said before en Russian, that it is difficult just to add the Russian language, or even impossible, you must only change the software of the phone , the instructions how to do that you can find here in this forum reading everything attentively. My suggestions to you, if you don't need Russian very much, is better not to do nothing because changing the software you may not find your necessary language in Russian language pack.

Не совсем понятна проблема, но я думаю что решить её можно вставить другой продакт код, вот название программы которая не только перепрошивает тел, но также показывает все существующие кода для телефона , ANT SpCC v.3.1.
Программа испытывалась на 3600, ну а также и на моём n95, так что всё работает. Напишиш помогло ли решению проблемы или правильно ли я её понял, ок?
