Live at the Nokia Go Play Virtual Event
Follow me as I liveblog the Nokia Go Play Event.
09:46 Few more minutes to go…

09:50 Curtains open…. still blank

09:55 Jussi explaining Nokia

10:00 Here we go. I am sent to a new window where a new window opens to the live webcast.

10:17 Intro of new User Interface called the fourth screen with Suites (music, photos, etc.). Very iPhone and Apple like.

10:20 A clip of the Nokia N81 with a Scroll wheel like iPods! A clip of a future iPhone-looking Nokia shows up. Pictured below.

10:30 Introducing what Nokia is doing with Music in 2008.

10:35 Explaining what a music phone must have.

10:38 He brings out Nokia 5310. He says it is light and thin. Stacked with music functions. $225 Euros. 4th quarter

10:41 Nokia 5610: Music Slider with 3.2 mp camera and flash. Battery whole day? 300 Euros. Available Q4

10:51 Introduce OVI, the new Nokia umbrella brand. Games, music, internet.. The word means door in Finnish

10:54 Explaining the evoulution of Nokia games. I think he is leading into the new N-Gage service.

10:58 N-Gage will work on these CURRENT and FUTURE Nokia phones. Will launch on November.

11:05 Nokia Music Store is introduced. URL is music.nokia.com. A preview of how it looks like is below. They will launch a PC client for music management. No mention for Macs. Grrrrrrr…

11:11 Nokia N95 8GB Introduced. 2.8in Screen. He connects it to a TV-OUT and show a music video by Maroon 5. Available late october.

11:15 A Boyband video shows up singing about the Nokia N81. HAHAHA. It features a “Navi Wheel” similar to the scroll wheel on the iPod. It also has two dedicated buttons for games.

“When I caress your sexy Navi Wheel you’re second to none… my N81″

11:24 Now questions and answers. In response to the Iphone similarity question, Ollis the CEO responds “If it is copying, we are copying with pride.” First touchscreen in S60 will be next year.

11:50 Back to the Virtual event by WOMWorld, TVC stands for TV commercial titled, the next episode. It is an ad for the Nokia N81. Notice that the buttons are not lit up? Pretty cool!

11:55 Service announcement Videos for OVI. Basically the clips we saw from the webcast are being played again, but we can pause this time and take closer look.
12:15 the Nokia N81 Product managers are answering bloggers’ questions about the Nokia N81 via Jaiku. There will be 2 versions: 8GB internal flash memory version and microSD card version (2GB inbox *may vary by region). The amount of free RAM will be ~90MB.
12:30 The Nokia N95 8GB product managers started to answer bloggers’ questions about the Nokia N95 8GB via Jaiku. RAM memory is doubled, bigger screen, better battery. I love it already.
13:00 I need breakfast. It is now 8AM here in New York. Be right back.
14:00 The Nokia virtual event initially opened to a few bloggers, is now available for everyone. Head on over to the Nseries WOM World Nokia Go Play Virtual Event page to see the video webcasts for yourself. I will no longer need to liveblog the virtual event now that access is public. Thanks for visiting!
By the way, I’m so excited that the Nokia blog made it to Techmeme! Wooohoo!
