Using GPS and Nokia Maps 2.0 on Nokia N95 8GB to Find My Parking Spot

I just started using Nokia Maps 2.0 Beta on the Nokia N95 8GB to remember my spot via GPS and help me find my car in case I forget. What sucks about living near two big hospitals is that it is really hard to find parking during the day. It’s not a problem at night, but I often have to park 5-6 blocks away if I get home early.

Remember It

Right after parking, I add the current location to Places.

Find It

When I need to find my car, I just go to favorites and select Walk to on the parking spot. As you walk, trail crumbs also follow you (see the white dots).

Walk to Walk to

This works great on other Nokia phones with built-in GPS. To name a few: Nokia N82, Nokia N95, and the upcoming Nokia N78 and Nokia N96.

  8. I had Maps 2.0 Beta… Then I got rid of it because it kept crashing!!

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the upgrade yet. Wait for stable release!

  9. Nokia Map Loader only works on Windows, needs .net framework, and if you add a new map the map loader deletes all your existing maps so you’ll have to download them all over again.

But you don’t need Nokia Map Loader. http://nokiamaps.moo.no links to all maps on Nokia’s smart2go server. Works with any browser on any operating system, including Mac and Linux. No need to install anything on your computer, so it works when you’re in a hotel, school, at work, or in an internet cafe.
If your phone talks WiFi or 3G you can add and update maps from your phone’s web browser without even touching a computer.

  11. gr8 post mark. Like you i also mix up parking places especially in a crowded area where i need to park my car some 200-400 yards from my destination. I used to forget the exact spot and the cold look from the family after having a fine dinner! This is what i wanted. Steve posted about it on aas, but did not tell how. Now i know. As far as maps 2.0 are concerned, i find them pretty stable. People can check the latest version.

  12. Now this is what I call super cool technology. I have no words to appreciate this. I mean can you believe that a tiny machine works awesome than your brain.
