Nokia N85 Firmware Updated to Version 11.047 – The Best Got Better

The Nokia N85 received a firmware update to version 11.047 tonight. It’s no secret that this is my current favorite phone and I believe the best phone to have right now. It also looks to have a very nice changelog including improvements with imaging and video recording quality.

Nokia N85 11.047New features and applications:

  • DVB-H accessory support (SU-33W)
  • Nokia software checker application
  • Support for Nokia MU-44 16GB microSD memory card

Changes/improvements:

  • Bad sound quality using BT headsets (CAP 97705)
  • Cannot display the video under edit menu (CAP 99698)
  • Keypad no response after make call with slide close (CAP 99169)
  • Problems with finding contacts starting by “CH” (CAP 97026)
  • Music player keep searching new songs when activated (CAP 97082)
  • Message type changed to multimedia message (CAP 99880)
  • Video recording quality improvement
  • Imaging quality improvements, better colours saturation and flash
  • Defaul setting change: Closing slide doesn’t disconnect call
  • Short slide key illumination applied for Java application compatibility
  • “Video call” is shown in Options when highlighting a contact in Space UI.
  • Not detecting always wall charger -> Not charging
  • 2G cannot connect to GPRS service in some cities in China
  • Non stop Music Player “Library update”
  • FMTX: The audio is routed to DUT speaker after receiving a message when FM transmitter is transmitting audio.
  • Predefined contacts does not support Chinese characters
  • APN setting for Vodafone Mobile connect “Promt Password is set to Yes”

If you don’t have a Nokia N85 yet, now might be the right time to get it. I previously showed you how I got the Nokia N85 for only $336 a month ago. Unfortunately the cashback offer by eBay decreased from 30% to 15% and the 10% paypal coupon is gone. With the current deal, you can still get it for around $410. Still a good price, but not as good if you pulled the trigger a month ago! The cashback might be gone if you keep waiting.

    Dont upgrade firmware, I wish I never did, It only ever gets worse. Latest update killed my fm transmitter. When you select turn on, it just remains OFF. Since about 3 update ago it now randomly reboots.
    Leave your phone in the state it arrived!!!

    ive got a nokia n85 that i bought from china. It has chinese software/firmware. Some applications on phone still have chinese writing.Can i change this to use in the UK or european softwar/firmware or can only vodafone do this for me?

    Any clue when the next update is coming? I enjoy the N85 but I purchased it to avoid frustration not incur more. I don't know why some models have no problems and others don't but nothings more frustrating then trying to record some important moment in life (i.e. nieces sweet 16) and having your phone reboot on you. any words of wisdom mark?

    hi to all! can somebody post a pic with the new firmware. i'd like to see how much improvement the images are specially in low light conditions. i haven't upgraded my firmware yet. so far everything is working fine except that the images in low light conditions are really bad. other posts claiming bad experiences with the upgrade worries me. thanks for any reply.

    help me !!! my n85 can't update new firmware. i try update many times. i chose general phone and full batery. second, my phone usually vibrate with re.re.re.... help me, thanks

    one bug i've noticed is that sometimes when you're typing really fast, and press backspace or "c" , it continues to cancel in an endless loop until all the text is gone, and the phone becomes non responsive, only holding the power button will switch it off.

    This seems to be a great phone. Unfortunately it is still plagued with lots of problems. The phone tends to reboot without explantaion and the recent firmware upgrade has not solved this issue and sometimes it has worsened after upgrading. The worst of all is Nokia´s customer care department. They are not as responsive as they should be and the phone warranty/technical support is restricted to the country where you bought the phone (no global support).

    Cost me $315 for the n85, and $375 from the 5800 ;)

    Ive got the phone yesterday, And when im serching for framewire updates i only find 10.045 why? :( my phone is so messed up right now, i think ive got all the bugs on it :/:/

    Because not all product codes seem to have got updated yet. (eg. mine hasn't)

    i have N85...
    music player was working fine till i did update it to version 11.047, i started using the FM transmitter with my car's radio i got annoying error message at the end of music track " General: system error " and it wont play the next song and the message keeps poping up until i exit the music player.
    and it wont play any other mp3 file... so i have to switch it off and back on again ...
    after many retries, "play" has vanished form music player option menu, as i remember .. the music options menu has " Play--->on device or via home network" now its gone, now there is no "Play"
    i tried to reinstall the firmware using nokia software updater and still the same error message....
    tried *#7370# too..... and still the same
    the phone is new and i am taking to much care of it.... i blame the version 11.047 for the bug.....

    any help???

    I got this phone on tuesday it is awsome,

    There is only one thing that I want to fix,

    Two of preinstalled videos can not be played, only audio is heard but the screen is gray.

    I updated today the FM 11.047 but I am not suere if the update is really done in my cell phone, because I did not lose any file.

    The name of the video is Drifting.mp4 and the other one I do not remember the name because I deleted it. But is the second one in the preinstalled videos list.

    Any clue for this :(

    hope you can help me :)

    Don't know if its just me, but the keypad no longer lights up when you're inside Messaging ... try texting at night without the lights on! :(

    Light sensor seems to work fine everywhere else, just inside the Messaging it blinks and the keypad (the slider) turns off. Waiting for the next firmware now...

    Major updates are usually thru NSU. I dont think this will be available via OTA. I tried last night, it's 125 mb and it failed for me saying that my connection is too slow for the upgrade. Sad me.
