Exploding Nokia Phone Killed 24-Year-Old Man
Police told the Times of India that a 24-year old youth was killed by a Nokia 1209 that exploded while he was using it. Manoj Singh’s body was found with burn injuries on his left ear, neck and shoulder and pieces of the Nokia 1209 scattered nearby. The incident occurred at noon on Monday in Bandha village in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan.

There were no witnesses to the incident, but the authorities believed the youth was talking on the phone when the blast happened. Times of India reported the youth was in the forest to graze his cattle.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about death by exploding phone. In 2007, a 33-year old South Korean worker was found dead with burns on his chest and a melted mobile phone stuck to the left side of his shirt. It was later found to be a hoax to cover up a workplace accident.
