Live from Nokia World 2010

Nokia’s biggest event of the year is here and I’ll be roaming ICC London ExCeL to provide some coverage. Nokia World is a 2-day conference that starts September 14th, but I’ll be on the ground a day early. Will we finally get an official announcement of the Nokia C7? Will we get a glimpse of the Nokia E7? Will we see a Nokia Meego device? Follow this page for the latest updates.

    NOKIA IS BACK

  • SmoothGirlieGirl

I live in Dominican Republic, I’m a fan of Nokia and I have an OVI account. As any normal fan would’ve done, I called the Nokia US store yesterday afternoon to preorder a N8 device. A male representative took the call.

What a huge DISAPOINTMENT I got when he declined my preorder simply because “Nokia US didn’t have a system to process international payments”.

Whatever happened to the “connecting people” creed, the “service innovation” vision or the “global scope” of this brand?

After that discouraging phone experience, the previous Niklas Savander and Purnima Kochikar speeches sound hollow to me, regardless of the promises and good intentions expressed @ NW2010.

The commercial strategy for Caribbean consumers sucks!!

And yes, Nokia should appologize for being Nokia, for not meeting expectations and for their customer service selectivity. And when I mean selectivity, I mean blocking international customer purchase intention. (btw, this is a lost sale of US$615.- aproximately)

Apple’s Iphone 3gs and Google’s Android (Sony Ericsson experia x10) are already for sale here and Nokia has -I’m embarrased to admit it- the E63 and 5230 to match those two.
