Nokia’s Plans for Mobile World Congress 2011

Leaders in the mobile technology and cell phone market will gather, collaborate, and network in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress in a couple of weeks. We’ll probably even see some product announcements. I just got an overview of Nokia’s activities during the conference so you can prepare for what’s to come.

On Sunday, February 13th, there will be a Nokia Media Reception and Briefing. Any guesses to what this could be about?

In the meanwhile, below are details on where Nokia executives are speaking at the show:

Intetesting that the invite says that the press event is on Sunday, February 13 but none of the speaker slots mentioned are on that day. Wonder what’s going on…

MWC starts the next day. Devices rarely get announced in MWC, SE, Samsung and now Nokia got their announcements day before MWC.

MWC is about the show off those new devices(Nokia does not have booth in MWC) and the keynotes to talk about the mobile market, not usually to announce devices. Only two companies that got their private totally own keynotes are Google and Microsoft.

I’m aware of Nokia’s history at MWC (I used to work there). My point is that the speakers mentioned aren’t scheduled for the press event – providing intrigue to what the press event’s purpose is (especially with Nokia’s Capital Markets Day where Mr. Elop will discuss Nokia’s strategy) prior to MWC.

It’ll be interesting to see what comes of the press event is what I’m saying…

That’s what i have been thinking. CMD should be about showing the strategy to investors and because of Elop and the changes happening inside probably some big announcements, but no device announcements.

Because of CMD so close it sure does hint that this event would be related to device(s). Just hopefully related to MeeGo imo.
