Firefox 4 Beta 4 Released for Nokia N900, Faster and More Responsive

The latest Firefox 4 beta for the Nokia N900 was released today, version Beta 4. To get it, go to Firefox.com/m/beta on your default browser. The Mozilla team says this update features faster start-up, page load times and responsiveness to panning and zooming. If you still have your Maemo device, don’t hesitate to try it out.

Firefox Beta for Mobile

Firefox 4 Beta for mobile is built on the same technology platform as Firefox 4 for the desktop, optimized for browsing on a mobile device. Here’s a summary of what’s new in this update:

There are now over 100 add-ons, and counting.
Startup speed has improved visibly.
JavaScript is much faster – almost 15% performance improvement in Beta 4 compared to Beta 3.
Memory and CPU usage is reduced, making the browser more responsive and stable.
Added an option to resize text to fit the screen when you double-tap to zoom in, to optimize the reading experience.

firefox 4 fast? comparing to what? it is much slower than the standard browser on meamo 5!

  I’ve tried ff in my n900 two weeks ago… It’s better MicroB (defaul browser)… I’ll try new beta now… I hope is better..

Men… I’ve tried this beta for 20 intensive minutes… it’s worse than previously beta… Speed little lower than MicroB, zoom autofit don’t work in useful manner, zoom autofit off: don’t zoom only focus and the plus minus buttons (volume control) don’t do nothing! you have to use magnifier glasses to use this shit XD… I don’t understand why mozzilla tecnology give power to MicroB but for firefox we aren’t at reasonable stantards
