Have you checked out Nokia’s Youtube channel lately? They’re currently headlining the Nokia E7, but what I really like are the short films they’re showing about redefining success. So far, there are stories from a beekeeper and a wrestler. You should watch them. Nokia is also asking for your success stories. If they like it, you could get rewarded up to 10,000 Euros!
The Wrestler’s Champion
I don’t see a connection between the Nokia E7 and these stories, but I enjoyed watching the short films. You can submit your success story at youtube.com/nokia. Need a little help? Here’s a sample:
Last year I quit my job at a top investment firm to start my own record label. I’d always been into producing but it was only ever a side project because I didn’t have the time to commit to it after hours. I’m still working out of my spare room but I have 6 upcoming artists signed and have a really solid business model based on using social media promotion. It took 7 months before I made any money but I’ve been able to work part time in a bike shop (my other love) to plug the gap.
It would have been easy to keep working in finance and making some good dough but it wasn’t what I wanted to be doing. I’m fairly resourceful and when I set my sights on something I usually follow through, so it’s been hugely gratifying to see it turning over a small profit. The toughest part is finding the right audience for the music. There’s so much out there already and so many competitors I have to be one step ahead all the time. Whether or not it turns into a world-leading label is not really the point for me, just thinking that I can do this for a living still blows me away. That’s what success is all about for me, doing something on my own, from scratch, with no guarantees and just going for it.
