Nowadays, privacy is a huge concern for smartphone users. With how much phones have grown in terms of hardware power, we do use them to generate and store a lot of stuff that we wouldn’t like to have leaked in the world — photos, messages, work emails and important documents, the works. Thus far, however, private features have mostly been exclusive to higher class smartphones. Well, what if you don’t want to break the piggy bank when purchasing a phone but still want to put your sensitive data in a secure place on your phone?

In comes the Oukitel K4000 Plus — the latest member of the super-tough K4000 family. It’s a midrange smartphone, which sports special software features to set it apart from the competition.

Oukitel is working on a privacy feature to be baked in the phone’s OS, which can be used to keep your documents, pictures, contacts, texts, call history, and even apps behind a lock. It’s in the form of a private folder, which can be accessed in a few different ways.

The most mundane option is the simple pass lock — you can have the folder displayed on your home screen; after tapping on it, you need to enter your own password to unlock its contents. There’s also a more secretive option — the folder is invisible and only a special combination on the phone’s dialpad would open it. For the most paranoid out there, there’s the option to create a fake secure folder with bogus “secret documents” inside, while the real one is safely hidden behind a second pass code.

As for specs, the phone rocks a 5-inch, 720 x 1280 display, a MediaTek MT6737 SoC coupled with 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32 extra GB). The juice box that keeps the lights on has a massive 4,100 mAh capacity. To top all that off, the handset is, apparently, extremely sturdy – you can see it survive an extreme durability test in the video below.

The Oukitel K4000 Plus will be up for pre-sale from the 16th to the 22nd of May for $89.99. Price after that will be $109.99.
