Check the SW update on your Nokia N97 for an option that says, “Install Before Phone Software.” The file description instructs users to unmark “Phone Software” before installing, but that is currently not on the list. My guess is that a firmware update will be available soon for the Nokia N97 and this is a prerequisite.

I didn’t notice any changes after the installation. As you can see from the screenshot, it’s only a 4kB file. I’m more curious about the upcoming Phone software update it is required for. Nokia N97′s Firmware v12 came out this month, but it was mostly bug fixes. Maybe the next upgrade will include new features? Thanks @clintonjeff for the tweet!

Update: According to Nokia, this small update corrects the settings in the Software Update application to prepare the phone for the v12 FOTA (Firmware Over the Air).
