Nokia just released 3D templates, case specs, recommended materials and best practices for the Nokia Lumia 820. Anyone familiar with 3D printing can create their own custom case. Nokia has become the first major phone company to begin embracing the 3D printing community and I can’t wait to see some of custom cases.

GigaOm thinks this is a smart move by Nokia.

Nokia’s 3DK release should reduce that risk for customizers of Lumia 820 phone shells, making it more likely that they will remain satisfied with the overall product experience.
